1: you can use an ethernet cable with extension cords and run them through the wall or under carpets. Look on XBox.com for more ideas.

2: As long as you have an ethernet cable in both, you should be fine, it may a little slower though.

1. use an ethernet cable to connect your 360 to your router.

2. Yes you can provided that it doesn't lag on both ends.

You have to now go buy a router. A router will let you hook up about 4 computers (or xbox 360s or both). They will turn your one ethernet port into four. They are pretty cheep. You can find them anywhere.

Yeah you need a router to go with your modem. I recently switched my ISP. My old modem had a built in router but the new one only has one slot like yours so I got a router (cost me about $50) and now my one modem slot goes to the router and you can connect 4 cables to the router. Most routers can also broadcast a wireless signal as well so I have my desktop PC wired to the router and run 3 laptops and my 360 wirelessly.

I did read somewhere (in these forums I think) that someone was running their 360 with a ethernet cable to their laptop, which was wirelessly connnected to the modem/router and they got the 360 connected like that. Dont ask me how though... it's beyond my knowledge. Other than that, your only options are...... buy a LONG cable and unplug your PC and connect your 360 every time you want to use it.... or buy the long cable and a router, and then you can have both running whenever you want.
