xbox live is not worth the money

speaking as a 360 owner who mostly plays single player so far its just not worth the money for someone like me. i own medal of honor,call of duty,halo and mkvs dc

what do you guys think?

I think they should have an option to pay and not pay. Online gaming should be free. I see no difference in lag from ps3 and 360. It's about the same. Suprisingly, I join matches faster in BO on the ps3 than the Xbox. They should charge for all the extra features such as on-demand games/video and those other little video clips they always do like the one with chobot explaining "strategize", along with voice chat cross game. Its ridiculous for me to pay family plan for both my little brother and I. either that or $18 a month for both accounts. I basically told him you're not playing xbox live. imagine if i had more than one little brother.

guess you havent played BO then. Lags on both the same amount. oh btw to the ps2snesgod, its worth it for what it offers but i use none of those features so its a waste of money for me.

With lower quality experiences and less features

Again, if people don't have standards they can choose lower quality experiences, I choose not to and have no problem paying Microsoft 20-35 bucks a year

Well if you find a online deal for xbox live code or card (like i did) and i paid 39.99 plus no tax, so i think it is worth it.

You get what you pay for.

I find value in it. I use its features every time I go online which is pretty often. Everyone's mileage will vary, but there are other options. If you don't like Live, you're free to move onto PSN, Wii and PC. It's much less energy than crying about it on the internet.

I don't think anyone mentioned this, but what about the deal of the week for gold members only? Ive bought over 50 games that were onsale at 33-80% off. At $5 to $10 each after 50 games thats comes up to $250 to $500 in savings. If i was not gold and did not pay for a subscription that would have been $500 to $1000 i would of had to spend. Ive not even had my xbox for a year yet, so this is so big savings when it only cost me $40 to have live for a year.

In all your paying for all the features. I do have to agree that it would be nice to have a Xbox Live Lite where we only pay for the services we want. For me that would be Chat and gaming. As far as netflix i could switch over to the PS3 if i had too. I would also like to keep the Last.fm, but i could live without it.

So chat and gaming for say $2 a month or $20-24 a year. That would be nice. This would prevent me from viewing any other service except chat and gaming which i would be fine with.

Cool thread TC. Your arguments have really inspired me to do some soul searching. You really changed my mind about the whole Live thing.

It's really a shame that I bought a 12 month card for $29.99 a few months ago. I guess I'm paid up for awhile, but at the end of that time I'll definitely consider your argument.

well xbox live silver is free. xboxlive GOLD costs hardly anything per month ($5/month at most, so not that bad). I think it's worth it if you USE the features. Last.fm, Netflix, Espn, video clips like Inside Xbox and Sent U a Message, online multiplayer, and of course demos come out much earlier than an xboxlive silver.

if its not worth the money, be sure to disable automatic renewal and delete yoru cc#. I did that. Now each year I'll just buy a Xboxlive 12month card. I got one from a friend for $30. and even if I hadn't done that, xbox was offering me a discount to $35 for a year ($3 per month). so its not that bad really.

Well, if you want to play MP for free just get the other console. Problem solved!

I don't mind the fee though cause I really enjoy Live. I just can't quit it.
