So my XBOX Live membership expired a few weeks ago and I can still play online. Microsoft has sent about 5-6 e-mails to put in a new credit card so they can charge it or I'll lose my Gold membership, but that hasn't happened. It's not like I want to pay or anything, but can someone tell me what's going on?

Are you sure your current credit card hasn't been billed? I had Netflix when my credit card expired. I didn't bother cancelling my account because I thought they wouldn't be able to bill my new card, but they somehow found my new credit card number and automatically billed me for the next month.

No. The current card on there is my old credit card, and I havn't updated it. Like I said I'm glad I got away with it so far, but how do you think it might last?

Are you sure that those e-mails were just telling you that its about to end? I get e-mails about my live expiring about 2 to 3 weeks before it actually does.

No the e-mails say they have been unable to charge my credit card for the monthly fee and shoudl either put more money on or update my card to a new one. They've been sending that message for a couple weeks now.

Either you've already been billed or it's their mistake. Watch out though, cause they'll never admit it and will likely suspend you or something if you don't clarify. Better contact them and pay up if you still have to.

Nah, there's nothing on that card anyhow. I'll take my chances for now.

I don't think your stuff has actually expired yet. It's just telling you that it's going to expire if you don't pay up.

Similar thing with me, my card didn't have the funds and it couldn't charge it. They kept sending me email after email until a few weeks later the account got put on hold (unable to get on LIVE etc.) It may seem like you're gonna have free LIVE but you're not, they're just giving you time to update the info or continue the subscription. One morning you won't be able to log in you'll see.

(Oh yeah, my account was reinstated after I made the payment)
