when it was first saying strict in-game. were you having problems with the internet, or was it just with call of duty?
b/c every so often it says strict for me. but i know i have open nat. so i just close out of multiplayer and go back in and its showing "open" again.
OK so about 6 months ago I discovered my Nat was strict, I then decided to do some research. I got it changed to open by port-forwarding and enabling UPnP. But today I downloaded the new cod update and when I went to multiplayer my nat was now strict again. I found this strange and went to network settings. The xbox ip address changed so I took it I would just have to change the ip address in my port-forwarding. No joy. So I manually changed the IP address and port-forwarded again. Still no joy. I looked into DMZ but am unsure whether I did it correctly as still my Nat is strict. So I took a long shot a friend said if you switch your settings from auto to manual back to auto and reset console the nat is open. I tried still no change. I am running my xbox 360 connected through ethernet cable (wired) to a Linksys WRT54G i think (it is the cisco one) which is connected to a Zyxel prestige 600 series. It is so frustrating that it has just changed and none of the solutions i did before which worked are working now. It is really turning me off bothering to extend my xbox live as I am having trouble connecting to parties and games today when I used to be the host with the best connection. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME IT IS DRVING ME NUTS!! adamocovic24
Used to have that very same router...Still do on another setup actually...anyways, if you're gonna use DMZ, obviously your 360 has to be on a static IP. I recommend static IPs on all machines running on a network, regardless. But especially if you're a Live user. Once you have static IPs set to everything on your network, you can enable DMZ using the IP that is assigned to your 360. Here's the important part though: Because you're using static IPs and DMZ, you actually should DISABLE UPNP.
This is basically because when you use UPNP, you're telling your router "just figure it out". But when you're on a network using all static IPs, there's no need for you to tell your router to do so.
Hope this helps.
edit: I also DO have all Live ports forwarded for the 360's IP in my router config, even though I'm using DMZ, just as a backup kind of thing. But DMZ would mean you're allowing ALL ports to be open to that IPs anyways.
