Hi everyone,

Just wondering, I know it's not a bad thing but, I paid for a 1 month Xbox Live subscription on December 25 2009 (got it for Christmas) and still I have access to Xbox Live Gold and haven't had any warnings that my subscription is running out so far. Can anyone tell me why this might be?

Thanks

You could have been sold more than a month if you bought a pre-paid card.

Did you pay via credit card?

Check your membership level on Xbox.com, it should tell you the end date:

If you paid using your credit card on the Xbox, i'm pretty sure that it is a continuous payment, so you could still be being charged. I could be wrong though.

I remember about two years ago, my one year gold membership was going to expire so I bought a pre-paid card, I put it in after the expiry date and then I find out that it also charged my criedit card, so I have two years of gold. You might of been like me and forgot to turn off the setting where it renews on your credit card.

if you payed by credit or debit card then youve made the same mistake so many do,,,you havent realised that by default MS continue to charge you when your subscription runs out ,,, you need to go into your account settings on the xbox and turn off the repeat subscription its a bit of a a cheap trick to be honest and the reason I always rant at people that they should ALWAYS go over everything microsoft do with a fine tooth comb before they commit to buying ,,, especially if it involves giving them card details...

Yeah, you have to be very careful :( If you have a credit card on file with them that you used to purchase points or live in the past, they will charge that without warning when your pre-paid card expires. You can now cancel auto-renew online though.

Edit: If you mean that you used your card to purchase Xbox live 1month through the console, then yes, it's auto-renew until you cancel it. You should have been able to see the $8 taken off your card per month.

Trust me, Microsoft's not generous enough to give you a constant membership of Xbox LIVE for free. They're either charging you, or the card you added was not a 1 month.

If you paid with credit card they usually will send you a mail telling you that your live is going to expire and be renewed automatically. Check your mails and credit card account.
