I'm no techy. I have a flat dish that connects to another land based dish to get my internet. I get 480.9 kbps connection speed. I live in BFE. Can I get xbox live?

I don't see why you couldn't. If you can get on the internet, you should be able to do Xbox Live.

Aren't there speed requirements? I also thought what type of connection you have mattered?

just either get a wireless adapter for the xbox or get a hard line into the modem, you should be fine. maybe lots of lag, but thats for everyone

I would find out about your ping. That is what it is all about, not download speed. those are two different things. Your download speed is the amount of data you can handle in a second. your ping is how quickly the information travels. Correct me if i am wrong, but i bet your ping is in the 3 or 4 thousand range, which is bad even for a MMORPG, let alone for a PC.

You actually want to find out what your upload speed is. Your download speed at 480k is plenty, but sat internet has notoriously slow upload (and that is just as important with online gaming)
