is it possible to still download game demos and still get achievements with xbox live silver?or do you need gold? also do you have to pay to download demos of games with microsoft points or whatever theyre called

You can do all that and no you don't have to pay to play demos. The only thing you can't do with silver is play games online.

Silver accounts can download game demos, accumulate achievements, and make purchases from the marketplace. The only thing you need Gold for is to play online multiplayer. Demos of games typically do not cost any MS points (which are just another version of $$).

Silver is essentially the same as Gold, except no online multiplayer. Free content like demos and videos are usually held back a week from Silver memebrs aswell.

just pay for gold, silver can do everything except what it should, play games online, if you dont have gold do yourself and favour and pay 50 bucks for a year

thanks for the info.... two more quick things....is downloadable content also available..?and just dealing with xbox achievements as a whole i have an ethernet cord that i will only run to my system when i am playing games if i am going for a certian achievement and say im connected to xbox live when im playing the game and unplug the cord and i decide to plug it back in and start the game back up from where i left up will that ruin my achievement at all or will i still be able to get it?

the achievement will be saved on the 360 so when you plug in the ethernet cable it'll read it from the xbox and update it to youre account.

To complete it, no. To see your achievements on a website, you have to log on at some point so they can update.
