I just purchased an xbox 360 a few hours ago and set up my xbox live subscription live account.  I choose the free silver membership.  But from what i understand i won't be able to play any multiplayer games with it?  Everyone in the stores in best buy and gamestop etc...says silver and gold is pretty much the same except with gold u get to download demos and other perks.  Is this the case?  Thanks from before?

Pretty much. But you can download things with Silver, just not certain items that say "Gold Members Only". With Silver, you basically just can't play online, but you should have a month free if you JUST got your 360 an set up the account.

Wow dude its not that bad. EZ way to get 3 free months:

Make sure u got 3 e-mail adresses

Make a silver subscription and everytime it tells u if u want to get gold deny it 2 times and it will tell u that u just got 1 free month

Do this 2 more times and ull get 3 months free. By that time u will know how awesome live is and u will renew.

nah its not that im a strong believer in not paying for online games. I feel we shoujld have to give these game companies any more money than we already do. I mean come on the game alone cost almost $70. Even though xbox live is not alot of money (chump change to be exact)....i just don't think its right. IT just another way for game companies to squeeze as much money out of people as they can. It the same reason why i never liked WOW or any other mmorpg. Think i'll just have to trade it in and put in the difference and get a ps3

In it's defense, Xbox Live is the best online console gaming service there is. The PS3's is terrible, and the Wii doesn't even have online capable games yet. In my opinion, Live is very much worth the $50.

The game developers never see your $50. It is so Microsoft can support Matchmaking. And even if you don't pay, they still let you download tons of free content and have friends lists. Just think how bad you would feel in a year with a PS3 when everybody who paid that $50 is playing Halo 3 and you are trying to find people to play Resistance with.
