The IP and DNS settings. I woud usually leave it on automatic but heard if i put the informtaion in myself it can sometimes fix this problem.

The xbox connects to the net, when i test the connection in the network settings. But before it can connect to xbox live a window pops up with "Update Required", which i have to accept or i'll be signed out. Sometimes the download window comes up and fails and other times it just fails straight away.

Or would using the Windows Connect Now option be a better way to connect to Xbox Live???

if your update fails every time and your box is dvd firmware modded you can put in a 360 hitachi dvd drive and it will update then just put wour working drive back in and you can get online and still play backups

Now this seems like a much more viable option!

There's no need to bump old threads.
