Microsoft has downplayed the impact of software piracy for its next-generation games console in Korea, confident that the DVD firmware hack will be countered by updates on Xbox Live and the problem will be neutralised through software updates, which are automatically detected and prompted for installation whenever the console is connected to Xbox Live. this is nice but i think people who never goes online can still play pirated game on their modded 360 what do u think guys ?

Yeah I guess they could still play them as long as they aren't connected to Xbox Live because they wouldn't have to download the updates that would prevent them from playing. But, they would be missing out on what games are continuing to revolve around, online play & thats a major loss when it comes to gaming these days.

If I had to choose between playing on Live and playing pirated games, I would choose Live in an instant.

The PSP does something similar to stop piracy and I think it's great. Whenever a new highly anticipated game is released force a firmware upgrade that ships within the game to be added to the system otherwise the game will not play. And inside the update is the fix the for the current hacks. It's basically a tug of war contest at this point, but it kinda, sorta helps.

None of that is true. They basically already stopped it with a new drive and removed debugging. All the newer models will come with another dvd drive that is faster and makes less noise. You are referring to somethign entirely different.

Live is what makes 360 so if you were to never go online and just play pirated games then they would never have the full experience.

It is my dearest wish that everyone who plays pirated 360 games would die of a sudden heart attack in the next ten seconds.

why because your sad enough to pay $60 a game when you can just pay $5-10 for a pirated one and still play on live :P

Maybe it'll stop people from hacking the leaderboards for Crackdown races lol. Not that I really care I think it's great that someone beat one of the races in 4 thousandths of a second.

I don't think they can do that. Didn't they try that with a previous update already? It didn't work then.
