Hey Guys,

I had a question about a problem that I had heard of in several rare cases. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem as I am now. I was playing with a friend and one of my controllers just randomly shut off. When we tried to turn the controller back on, it simply wouldn't turn back on. We tried several different types of batteries and still nothing. Went out and purchased a rechargeable battery pack for it, still nothing. If anyone could let me know if they know anything about this problem and a possible solution. I haven't tried plugging the controller into the Xbox because I do not have the android cable with a USB attachment on it. I'm thinking of trying that next if I can find one. I was curious if it could possibly be one of those new software patches from the controller, but I don't believe that is feasible because my other controller works fine. And just for a reference point, there is no damage to the controller. Never been dropped or smashed. If you have any ideas please feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

Wickstar1

@wickstar1:

Hi - just read your post - I have never had that happen to me - but it could be a couple of things....

You should have got a cable with the controller or with the rechargeable pack......plug this into the console and try to update the controller (through the Settings menu)......or alternatively - take the batteries out and plug the cable into the Xbox and use it like a wired controller to see if that works....

here is a link http://support.xbox.com/en-NZ/xbox-one/accessories/wireless-controller-wont-power-on

Also - did you have a headset plugged into it at the time by any chance? - if so - then maybe that might have had something to do with it.....

Did you have multiple controllers connected to the same Xbox? - maybe it got confused as to which one was the primary one (?)

It sounds strange - maybe the controller has had a total fail.....(hope not)

Hope these help....

@craigkelleigh:

Hey Craig,

Thanks for responding, but a headset was not plugged into it when it happened. There was only one other controller connected to the Xbox when the occurrence happened, and that controller still works. I will most definitely try and connect the controller to see if there is any life in it what so ever. The funny thing is that it still won't power on even with fresh batteries in it. As you, I hope that the controller hasn't simply failed because of a manufacturer defect. I'm still hopeful someone reads this and had a similar problem, and that they have a solution.

Thank You,

Wickstar1

@craigkelleigh: Same just happened to me. I was playing Halo 5 Beta and suddenly the controller turned off, at first I thought it was low battery, So I plugged my Play & Charge, nothing happened too. And now both play & charge and the controller are not working. Try new batteries, nothing too. And belive me I take good care of my stuff. I will try what wickstar1 said, to see if it works. Thanks dude.

I'll keep u posted.

P.S. My uncle was telling me not to trust in this play & charge kit.

It's an issue that the controllers will sometimes disconnect on Xbone, I've had it about three times. I don't understand what causes it, but powercycling the Xbox fixed it.

As far as the controller just never turning back on? I never had that happen, I just had the controllers disconnect.
