The Xbox One has an HDMI port where it is possible to plug a cable box into the system. Would we be able to plug our 360's into the system and play the 360 through the Xbox One? With the 360 controller of course. I'm guessing the Xbox One would act as a gateway of sorts to display it on the screen.

sounds like a plan, but even if it could i wouldnt do that with my xbox 360 because there would be nothing i want to play on an older system. IF this works ill pass through my ps4. this way i can jump back and forth between consoles

They literally confirmed you could do that. I think it was Major Nelson that released a statement saying you can plug in a 360 into the Xbox One. This would be a good way to switch back and forth between Xbox One and 360 games. It'll be useful early on if you still have 360 games you haven't finished and only have a few Xbox One games to start with. It's a pretty good way to bypass the lack of backwards compatibility.

Why would you do that?

Just plug the 360 into your TV

Not really.

Some people don't have enough HDMI ports for all of their components. My TV has 4 and I still don't have enough for everything that I want to connect to it.

The Xbox One having an HDMI in helps out by adding 1 additional port.  Allowing us to plug our cable box or 360 into it frees up a port and prevents constant switching between cables and devices.

I love that MS put an HDMI in into Xbox One.

Never thought of it like that. My TV has 6 ports so it isn't an issue.

Ok, extra port? That's fine

Some people are in here saying backward compatability though

Also we don't know the quality of the pass through yet

Like others have said, some older TVs don't have that many HDMI ports. Also though, I like the seamless switching between the two. I imagine it will be possible to switch back and forth from the 2 consoles very quickly. No need to switch input channels.

Sounds awesome! In terms of HDMI Ports I have 4. Cable box, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3. I'll most likely be plugging the 360 through the Xbox One. There is still plenty of Xbox 360 games left to come out. Plus with GTA V coming out and the fact I'll still be playing that most likely.
