Xbox One with No Kinect hooked up - what happens?...

I will set up my Xbox One this weekend, but may wait to hook up the Kinect.

What does the non-Kinect One screen look like? Is there a "camera not connected" prompt on the home screen? Pop up reminders? Are there any indicators?

I'd like to leave it out for now but don't want constant reminders to hook it up.

When I set mine up last night I didn't plug in Kinect, I think a Kinect with a line through it pops up in the top corner every now and again. I can't really remember, I had been drinking.

You definitely can set it up without Kinect.

What happens? You get to play your Xbox One and don't have access to the features the Kinect gives you like voice command etc.

It acts just fine without the Kinect. Mine is still in the box.

The kinetic makes me hate the xbone. If its true it works without it I may get one

We'll...I hooked up my xbox one and figured what the heck I'll give the kinect a try. I set it to "see me" to login and it did not work half the time. Then I tried the voice commands and it worked fine for a while and then it did not work great. In the time I spent trying to exactly phrase the correct way to say stuff, I could have just used the remote. It does not seem ready for prime time. Then I started thinking, I am not really interested in voice commands and kinect stuff, I would have much rather saved $100 on the unit. In better news, I did get my xbox one working with my Logitech harmony ultimate remote on day one, so that was cool. Anyway..thanks for the comments..I'll probably disconnect the kinect until the killer app comes along. But for now the voice command option is not impressing me.

It takes forever to navigate around the interface if you do not have it plugged in. I think they made it this way to bribe us to use it...
