It seems to me that instead of honoring their word, Microsoft has used the requests for BC games to

make more money off of us! So instead of giving us the ability to play our old xbox games as originally

promised, we get to buy them all over again as "downloadable content"

Great way to honor your user base after selling them defective consoles...

way to go!

No, he's expecting he doesn't have to pay again for a game he already owns to play it. Which seems like a reasonable expectation to me.

Yeah I'm not too happy about this idea. I'll be sure to keep my original Xbox when I get my 360.

There's still BC capability if you have the discs, they aren't removing that feature.

yeah but not all games work with BC cause they haven't been added. i dont want to buy psychonaughts again just to play it on my 360. why can't they make them BC and downloabable. im tired of givin my money to MS. Espicially after i bought all the maps for gears and find out that the pc version gets a longer single player, all the maps plus new ones and a new game type for free.......screw you ms.

It stands to reason that if you don't have the game, you'd be required to purchase it, whether you lost it or not. That's really not the point of this post.

The point is, what was once going to be a "feature" or incentive to purchase an 360 has not only been abandoned, it's being re-worked as
a great new feature to get us to pay to play games we already own, or could purchase for much less via a used gamestore, half.com, etc.

For instance: Lets say they offer downloadable Riddick for $15. i already own the game, but can't play it because it's now

a downloadable "Xbox original"! That pisses me off!

MS basically looked at the most requested BC games as a launchpad for this great new "scheme" to get us to pay for what they originally

said was a feature of their console.

PS3 doesn't look too expensive now does it?

Exactly. This is a stupid idea, and without achievements there's no reason to buy a game you already own.

Tbh im not really bothered: most of the decent original games (like KOTOR, Fable, and Halo) are BC, and now I can buy fully compatible ones online without worrying about scratched disks or compatibility seems fine to me. Online marketplace is the way to go.

I'm pretty sure that the games that will be downloadable under this whole "xbox originals" plan will be the same games that are BC.

Ummm....where did they say that there were any games being released that weren't already on the BC list?

You're just speculating, The only reason they are offering this program is to offer digital download copies of these games so that people new to the Xbox brand might actually use the BC feature of the system.

Also, Did you notice that a used copy of Halo goes for 19.99 at Gamestop....and now MS is going to sell it for 5 dollars less at $15. Now say you were a PS2 user new to the 360 that never had an Xbox....You can download Halo for less than buying it at the store.

Plus, I really like this because it screws over Gamestop which screws everyone who trades in games......Once all games are distributed digitally....Gamestop will slowly go out of business. Why go to the store when you can just download the game at a cheaper price?

It's just another way for people to buy content....BC will still be offered to those who have the disc for free.......but now people who don't have the disc can get a copy without leaving the house. Pretty Cool.

Do you complain just to complain? What a horrible painful life you must have. There's not one ounce of proof that they're going to release games for download that are not already backwards compatible. Your just complaining to see yourself type. Just shut up.

**********THINK LONG TERM, LISTEN UP************

They are doing this now so that in 4 years they will have afew hundred downloadable xbox 1 games.

This is so that when the new xbox comes out, they will have access to the first generation off the bat, cause when the next generation comes, xbox 1 games will be near impossible to find. They are basically setting up the "virtual console" for their new xbox but also making profit off us current 360 owners.

some people just cant think business..............

Microsoft is just steering us in the right direction, because digital distribution is the future. I know that I don't want to be looking around for these games days, months, or even years from now; this is a nice substitute. And the BC list is fairly well done as is, so you can;t complain there.

No speculation. I read the article posted today on this site:

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6182876.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;7

He mentioned 3 games that they would like to offer that are currently NOT bc.

Do you come on this site to demonstrate how stupid you are? If so, you have a lot to be proud of.

You're in such a rush to defend your video game idols that you can't even think straight.

What a horrible life you must have being so stupid.

I'm not against downloadable content at all, I just don't like how they abandoned one project to get us to fund another.

Plus when you buy online you have to wait for the game to ship to you.....people don't like to wait....most would gladly pay $5 bucks more to have the game almost instantly.

You need to chill out....

it would be cool if the devs added to these downloadable games. Maybe an online multiplayer mode for Halo CE? Doubtful, but it would definately sell.

He is talking in context but you fail to realize that none of those games mentioned are actually part of the service or even slated to be on the service. He was just giving his opinion on games he would like to see.

The games that are inFACT slated to come out on Dec 4th are all BC titles. And your right it is speculation on my part that I think all the games released will also be BC title....but you know why I think that? Because currently that is Fact! All current Xbox Original Games are also BC titles.....

So until that changes, I think you are making a big fuss over nothing.

If the games that are sold as downloadable content are BC, That means they will be BC for us who already own them. How is MS stealing your money? They are only stealing it if you are stupid enough to buy the downloadable games when you already have a copy at home.

He says ALL the games have to have had passed the BC certification test. All games coming through digital distribution (this service) will ALSO be backwards compatible. If you already own the original Xbox game, you WILL NOT have to buy it again over this service. Jeese, just end this thread already.
