My stupid Xbox 360 jogged my disc in the tray and scratched a light ring around the disc and now won't read, what types of techniques are there to clean it. I've already tried the toothpaste technique, but really didn't work for me. Maybe it's because i didn't do it right, Please Help

In my experience there is no solution. However, take it to your nearest Wal-mart and tell them that you got the game as a gift and ask for a new disc. It works every time for me.

That happened to me so many times. Unbelievable. >_< As far as I can tell, there is no guaranteed solution. You could try going over to one of those disc fixing shops (No idea what they're called) or buy one of those scratch removers. With all the games that I've had scratched like that, I tried the toothpaste trick, the toilet trick, and pretty much anything you can imagine. If you're wondering why this happens, Microsoft forgot to include a disc guard in the system to prevent it from moving while its playing. Basically, if you move your Xbox while the disc is in motion, that's what you get. I guess Microsoft was just too lazy to bother with that problem, or just didn't notice it. But its pissed off a good amount of gamers by now. R.I.P. my copies of Dead Rising 2, Red Dead Redemption, Fable 3, and L.A. Noire. .-.

You were warned. The papers that came with your console, and I think there may be a warning on each game case, say specifically that you should never move your console while a game is on. Why the hell would you move your console anyways?

I dont think there is a solution, although next time youre playing, make sure you dont move the Xbox while it's on and a disc is spinning. One time my cousin jumped off my bed because his mom wanted him to come downstairs and I ended up getting a ring on my Gears of War disc. I just took it to Wal-Mart and told them I bought it a few days prior and it came like that.

It doesn't come on each game case. And be honest here, did you really read the manual that came with it? And I didn't move my Xbox on purpose. I had it standing up and when I was walking I kicked the table I had it on by accident and it fell over. I had it on because I just left to get a drink. Then I heard the noises and panicked so I took the disc out as fast as I could (Dead Rising 2) and saw the ring. For some reason that basically broke my Xbox too. Every time I put a disc in there was a 50/50 chance it would make those noises again and scratch my disc. Thats how the other 3 got scratched. But you're right, it is my fault for not reading the manual. That better not be a problem with the next gen console though.

Yes, I actually, honestly read the manual, lmao. I'm not Shaine the Nerd for nothing, ya know! I read it all, buddy! It's been years so I can't recall completely what it said, but I read "Do not move console while it a disc is inside it," and was like, "Check! NO BUDDY MOVE MY DAMN XBOX EVER!" But anyways, that sounds like a complete and understandable accident that, I admit, could have probably been avoided if Microsoft designed their system a little better. That really does suck. I hope they learned the lesson to make their stuff better. If my first Xbox Whatever crashed on me, I'm just moving to Sony indefinitely.
