You know in a perfect world, every gamer would own all the systems but financially its a very tough decision to make. Considering a PS3 costs about $399, a 360 around $399 (not positive about this one) and a Wii $249, thats over $1000 to buy all three. Thats not even including accesories, games, and etc.
So can you really expect people who have to pay bills every month, take care of their kids, and etc. to even consider that? What about the younger generation who are too young to even have jobs yet, unless their spoiled rotten, theirs almost no way for them to have all three.
So the reason people clamor, argue, and fight over these systems, is because most people will only choose 1 console, or usually at most 2. The system you purchase, you support it and you want it to do well. And unfortunately, in some people's eyes, in order for their system to do well, they need to be clobbering the other platforms.
But hey, if you can afford all three, thats awsome, but you can't expect everyone to do the same.
