The question is, I will be exchanging it at BB for a new one. However, I'm worried about my saves, can I keep my HDD and just slap it on the new 360? I think i read somewhere that the HDD is proprietary and is hardware specific. Please tell me im wrong and that I can keep my xbox with live still working.

TY...

Yes you can, but any arcade game you downloaded will have a issue. Like normally because it knows it was downloaded on that HDD for the 360 you don't have to be signed into Live to play the full version, you could be offline. When you put the HDD on the new 360 you'll find all those games will be in trial mode no matter what unless you sign into live. Basically it's to protect it so that you aren't sharing the games with friends even though you are rightfully using it on your replacement 360, they don't care, from then on, even if you redownload, you'll have to be signed in for that. If you have any movie rentals, be sure to watch it first, I don't think it will work on the new 360.
