OK a quick question

 

 

i haven't used my wired controller for ages, but i'm out of batteries now so i need it, when i used it in the past it had a usb plug thing that slottes in above the ethernet port, but i'm looking at it now and it has a circular plug and i can't find where to plug it in?  WTF???? am i missing an attachment, this is doing my head in, any help?

that should be slots not slottes

I thought all the new controllers for the 360 are USB for the wired 1's.

are you using your old xbox controller or something? it sounds like your missing the end of an old xbox controller and you only have the part where it disconnects if someone were to trip the cord or whatnot. the xbox 360 controller should have a usb plug at the end not a circle.

thats what i was thinking, this is a xbox 360 controller(its white) , i never owned an xbox before the 360, and it used to have a usb plug, but now it seems to be a circular plug, how i do not know

thats what i was thinking, this is a xbox 360 controller(its white) , i never owned an xbox before the 360, and it used to have a usb plug, but now it seems to be a circular plug, how i do not knowDaz11811

You're missing the rest of the break away cable. It turns the round connector into the flat usb connector. You might get lucky and find one at a gamestop or something like that. The connectors on ebay right now are for the original xbox.

ahh so there is a seperate bit, thanks, i thought i was losing my mind, any chance of posting a pic of what it looks like

It's a short length of cable. One end has a USB adapter, the other has an adapter for the round part you referred to in your original post.

I have this same problem, I can't find that adapter thing at the end of the wire. Does anyone know what it's called exactly? I'm having trouble searching for a replacement.

You have lost the UBS end of your controller. If you cannot find it. your S.O.L time to buy another controller.
