To test out games, the XNA Launcher is free. But to develop and test games on your 360, you need a membership (think it's like $60/ 4 months).

Hehe, yeah - I was a little confused on how to respond. I think it's awesome that you've decided to develop for the 360 (correct?). Do you have any background or experience in the field? Plus, I'd love to know how the progress goes on your project (not exactly sure what it is).

Best of Luck.

Thank you, well lol i just have to wait for my dad to come home and he will probably say its alright. But yes, i go to a technology school where i take IST which is the feild to go into for game developing. But im still a little noobish at this stuff lol. And i have not yet thought on what the game is going to be about, im just downloading some stuff for it on my computer. Since thats where you will be making it.

I'm sure there's a long process involved in getting your game on the Arcade - but if it does, there IS a possibility you can sell and distribute the game (or whatever the project) on the Marketplace. After all, they don't want to flood the Marketplace with just "any and everything".

Be sure to check out: http://creators.xna.com/ - although you probably already have.

Not at the moment, no. I think it's one of the best features of this console now, allowing independent studios or persons to create games that everyone can enjoy - reaching an audience of over 10,000,000 people.

However, I know my fair share of game development. Graphic Design and Computer Engineering (currently pursuing the latter) are my hobbies and education; respectively. I hope you know your C++/#!

Plan on making a company name?

I don't think there will be hundreds of games available from this on the marketplace. You will see the really good games come to marketplace and I think they will be just like any other XBLA game. You'll have to pay for them and the people that develop it will get paid. You won't be able to just play any random garbage without doing the $100/year Creator's Club thing.

That's really cool man, and don't worry about coding too much - at first you'll be "WTF?", and after using it for awhile it'll become just another language like English. In my experiences, learning from a textbook and CD combo was very effective.

And, love the company name man! Like I said before, best of luck with the game and be sure to let us know how it's progressing in the coming months.

I'm outta here.

A quick word of advice...I wouldn't pay for anything unless you have to. What I mean is, if you're not ready to test anything, don't buy the membership, unless of course you need it to do actual development. I'm pretty sure most of the dev tools are free (C#.NET, XNA Studio, etc.), so if you only need the membership to post/test your games on Live, unless you have something to test, why start paying for the membership? Just a thought.

good thought, i actully havent done it yet. You only need the membership in order to edit and test it and of course put it on live. So for now i will no subsribe since there is simply not a point to. Im still in the downloading part which will take me some days to download everything.

You want to download Visual C# 2005, you'll have a shortcut in the Programs menu. Also go to the XNA website for more info.

1. http://creators.xna.com/ - go to that site

2. Next to the ship game and click on New to XNA studios

3. Then click on install as a new user

4.scroll down and install XNA studios 2.0

5. Go to estimated time and click you interent connection

6. Go back to previous page

7. and download 2005 express edition

8. after that servious pack 1

9. than google and download 2008 express edition

***NOTE ****** i think you have to download everything before XNA studios 2.0 sorry little confused there. You will probably end up downloading silver light too.
