...is this price drop due to the new 65nm cpu or are they just selling the old xbox 360 at a reduced price? Because I don't want to buy a new xbox 360 until the model with the 65nm cpu comes out, price drop or no price drop. Every article i've read only speculated on a price drop but none said a word about the new processor.

well you'll probably be waiting untill the end of the year atleast then.. even if they ship those newsystemsanytime soon, the stores will still sell off their old stock first i'm sure.

Well I already have a 360 so waiting isn't much of a problem, but would that explain the 50 dollar price drop then? Are they dropping the price so the old 360s will sell better, thus they can replace them with the new models? Also Microsoft has been recalling the unsold consoles, or so I've heard, if that's true would they really just ship the same consoles back and keep the extended warranty that's been taking out a huge chunk of money from their pockets, or would they just "repair" the old models before shipping them.

i have no idea, but i really don't see microsoft pulling a sony and just dropping the price to get rid of old stock.

if they drop it,i'dbetit will stay dropped.

Yeah I'd hope so but that's not really the issue. The problem is, I want to know what model they're selling with the new price drop, because if it's still the 90nm CPU, frankly, I'm not interested, mainly because I already have one but still getting the RRoD makes me kind of paranoid. I mean these should be the new 65nm CPU's considering they recalled all of their old 360's earlier this month right?

Like someone else said. I have a feeling they're just clearing stock of the older premium units so they can get the better tech into consumer's hands come Holidays continuing with the price drop.

No idea why people keep going on about price drops the 360 has alrady dropped in price here in the uk. not only that but stores here give away games and access by the bucketload, lol even the ps3 is cheaper here now and comes with free games extra controllers and hdmi cables all thrown in
