I was poking through YouTube last night, watching the MechWarrior 5 trailer again as well as the old MechWarrior 2 cutscenes, when I went into geek overload. I ended up importing the MechWarrior 2 music tracks from the game disc into my iPod. The music from that game never fails to get my adrenaline pumping. I think it is one of the best musical scores for a game. Very futuristic but primal at the same time.
What games do you think had really good music that contributed to the overall ambiance and enhanced the gaming experience? Besides MechWarrior 2, my other favorites are:
Fallout 3 - the 1940's and 1950's cheery music was a great counterpoint to the bleak post-apacolyptic wasteland
All GTA games, but especially GTA: San Andreas - that game turned me into a diehard fan of both Dr. Dre and George Strait
Jedi Knight - wielding a lightsabre with the Star Wars theme music blaring in the background was epic. The soundtrack was cut perfectly, with the Vader's theme and Luke's theme coming in just at the right moments in the game.
