I personally love Grand theft auto cut scene, always well done and lets you feel that you are part of the game. Plus different cut scenes for the same mission may make playing it through again even more enjoyable. thoughts?
i thought in GTA:VC, they were perfect and were what really clinched the game for me. But in San andreas, some of them seemed to drag and go off on tangents when they weren't necessary. So im hoping GTA4 has the quality of VC's cutscenes...

anywho after making a fool of myself, i dont think the player will realize the amount of cutscenes to be excessive like in MGS or something. especially when you first get the game, 9 times out of 10 the player will want to just kill people to see what happens instead of doing the main missions lol
pretty average for GTA. if the average one lasts 5 minuets there would be about 95 or so cutscenes in the game. i feel like San Andreas had at least 70+. I think you wont notice over time, its not like you have to sit through them all at once. And the cut scenes have always been one of the charms of the GTA series.
It will depend how they done, but considering previous GTA games, they were mainly used at the start and ends of missions, or when major events occured.
8 hours may sound a lot, but when you split it up into a chunks a couple of minutes long, with a lot being used for optional missions you may never do, it probably won't seem like a lot when you are playing.
If the rumoured achievements are true though, playing through the story in 30 hours could be tight.
Its nice that they've taken the time to make alot of cutscenes, my only worry is: there may be quantity but is there quality? And I hope there won't be 2 many cutscenes...that may break up gameplay and annoy me. :P

no, we are talking about strictly cutscenes(gamespot made a mistake) nobody knows how long the main game will be. But cutscenes are 8 hours
amazing to think one games cut scenes are much longer than most shooters and alot of other xbox games campains , shows how much some games length has come down over the years

No yeah its really a shame because I love playing singleplayer campaign. Thats usually my favorite thing with a game but now they focus more and more on multiplayer insteed. Not that thats a bad thing because multiplayer is nice, but I love a good and long singleplayer campaign. :)
