Personally, I felt awesome. I got it for christmas 2005. After playing the gamecube for so long, the difference between the two was incredible. Just the ergonomics!

Then I realized that the D-pad was awful.

The D-Pad really is one of the worst ones I've ever encountered. Other than that, the controller is good. Took me a while to get used to the X being in the position it is because I was used to playing another system with an X button in a different place. (I can't mention the system because you get modded apparently for even mentioning it here.)

best controller.

D-pad barely used in the games I play, so that's not a real big deal to me. I have some old dualshocks 2s in the same cabinet, they just don't compare. nor does any controller from that line or ever.

nearly perfect.

When I first held the X360 gamepad, I was astonished at how ergonomic it was. It's probably the most comfortable gamepad I've ever used. Everything felt just right, though I do wish for C and Z face buttons for those games that would be better suited by such a 6-button layout. Then I tried the D-Pad. Downgrade from the Xbox Controller S, which was a shame, but not completely unusable for titles which were more twiddlystick-centric for movement. Believe it or not, though, Microsoft has had an even worse D-Pad in the past. The one on the old SideWinder Freestyle Pro (a PC gamepad with an accelerometer for motion control dating back to 1997) is almost unusable for me. I could at least hit the direction I want on the X360 pad most of the time. Not so with the Freestyle Pro-it's far too easy to go into a diagonal when I don't want to, and the tactile feedback is such that I know I've pressed it, but I can't really tell what direction I've actually pushed it. Easily the worst D-Pad I've ever used, and I can't imagine it being any worse (unless it's a fake D-Pad that's really a flat capacitive surface with no tactile feedback whatsoever).

I like how the controller has some weight to it compared to the original ps3 controllers that dont have dualshock but the dpad is the worst I've experienced on a controller since the original NES. I prefer the ps3 controller overall but the 360 controller is the best one I've ever used for a FPS, hands down. Even with a crappy dpad.

I like the size. Most controllers are small and not ergonomic. The D-pad is pretty terrible, but the rest of the controller is excellent. It was a fresh new-looking controller that no one else was pushing out into the market, at the time.

I though 'wow. I have finally brought myself an xbox 360. Thank god for that.'

Then i thought 'wow. new xbox smells funny' And to this day the Xbox box still smells of that new smell. lol

Loved it and compared it with the original Xbox controller. The D pad is the only flaw on this one. The best Controller for All nighting.

It took me a couple of days to get used to it. D-pad is terrible, I' ve played MKvsDC and Tekken 6 and it's a pain compared to a PS pad. Godd thing, I think the D-pad it's in a way better position than on the PS3. Specially because pretty much in todays games you do not use it that much.

When I first held it my thoughts were "this is the perfect weight for a controller"

I don't know about the rest of you guys but the weight makes an issue for me. I never liked the N64 controller until the Rumble Pak came out, because it added weight to the controller in my hands. The less weight on the controller for some reason affects how I play - like it feels like nothing is there and I tend to just go to sleep mid-game. With the 360 controller, the weight is just right and buttons are real responsive, just wished the dpad was a real DPAD so I could play my fighters.

Love it. I play COD on my Xbox and my brother plays it on PS3. I've tried playing it on the PS3 with my brother, but I just can't, I suck. It's all to do with the position of the analogs, the triggers (¬_¬) and the weight of the pad, it just doesn't compare.

Sorry it's not more profound, but it's what I thought. No complaints here, the RB and LB feel a bit awkward at times but it's very rare.

I though It felt a lot bigger than the PS2 controller that I had before it. I think I prefer the ps2 controller size to be honest.

Itprobably depends on how big your hands are.

I dont really have strong feelings about it though the xbox 360 controller is fine.

It does the job.

Not great for fighting games maybe due to lack of responsiveness.

well.. i gotta say this, the ps3 is my main console for this gen, but when i play with my xbox360's controller it feels different in a good way of course. it's bascially better than the ps controller. it's so big and fits good in the hand although the d-pad aren't that good.

If they raised the analog stikcks and the D-Pad, this would be the best controller ever made for a console, hands down.

These are these thumbsticks you can buy called FPS freak, but no fix for the d-pad yet.

Although I bought the wired controller soon after...I hate batteries and being tethered to the console just feels more right.

I bought the wired one as well only because the battery compartment added too much bulk.

My first thought was how comfortable it was compared to "The Duke" and I would also look for the black and white buttons on the right side of it too, glad they got rid of them for the bumpers.
