Your worst Xbox purchase

Could be from any Xbox console generation. Doesn't have to be a game.

I've had plenty of bad Xbox game purchases in the past so I'll stick with something else. I'd say the worst purchase I had is the 360 Kinect. I actually had some fun in some games with it, but most of them I tried were very poor (with input lag) and/or poorly implemented into non-Kinect games (such as those using the voice capture). And in addition to the Xbox 360 Kinect, I was an early adopter of the Xbox ONE, and actually found plenty of uses for the Kinect in non-gaming functions, but the device literally quit working on me 1 month after the warranty ended.

I guess with games...I think buying Resident Evil Operation Racoon City at $60 was a pretty poor purchase. Sooo many things wrong with that game!

@killered3: Me and my friend labored our way through that game in coop. He's typically easily entertained ...but even that made him suffer. Lol. Let's forget that game is at all tied to the RE franchise.

I caved in and bought it against my best judgement to play with friends and it was every bit as bad as I expected and we didn't even play that much.

Yes, the Xbone Kinect died on me as well (and many others in the Xbox forums). The 360 Kinect lasted longer.

Strange, the Xbone Kinect just sits there and I don't use it, but according to the M$ rep I spoke too, it was an issue with a recent update.

It's not a big loss, as with my loud 7.1 tower surround sound, my Kinect couldn't hear me anyways and hardly any games even bother using Kinect (as I suspected would happen back in 2013 when I bought the Xbone).

Regarding games, I am very careful and follow developers instead of brands, so I avoid all the bad filler bait-and-switch titles the market releases.

I've had a few bad purchases, all games I might add. I tend to stick to certain genre's for the most part, but I branch out and buy games that I don't usually play, and have found some gems along the way Enslaved, Bayonetta to name a few. I have found a few bad one along the way also, but it's all part of the journey we call gaming.

NBA Live 06 for $60 when I bought my launch 360, which I traded in for $20 and paid an additional $40 for NBA 2K6 however it was worlds better than that piece of crap, but nonetheless I ended up spending $100 over picking the wrong basketball game. The other games that I bought that sucked were Superman Returns, Turning Point, NFL Tour, Captain America, and Duke Nukem. On the bright side at least I wasn't one of those poor gamers that purchased Tony Hawk Ride.

Gonna go with Star War Battlefront. I barely played it beyond the first day or two. There's no single person campaign and I'm not much of a multiplayer. I knew this beforehand, but once I saw those graphics, I had to have it anyway. Oh well..

Kinect for the XBox 360. We went all out and bought a ton of games with it, but my kids only used it a couple of times. They still play Wii games, though...

Kinect for 360 I guess, haven't used it in probably a couple years.

And my worst xbox purchase has to be Kinect.

Guess it's my turn then. The only thing that comes to mind is just Kinect 360 and I only had just one game for it, it's Star Wars Kinect. Worst purchase for me on Xbox console. I was part of the Kinect hype way back then.

@SolidTy: I had issues with my Kinect 2.0 when I had narrow shelves under my tv. Little room for heat to vent upwards and Kinect would shut down. I moved it and it works well again.

Moved my ps4 upstairs to that old spot and I swear after like 20 minutes of use it sounds like it is heading down a runway.

My Xbone Kinect literally stopped working, it died. I had to call Xbox and the lady said it was the update the killed it. I didn't even have to explain much, as she was well versed in the problem. She told me the company was working with thousands of others that also came across the issue. The update in question was a year ago I believe.

My underused Kinect was in an open space, if you were curious, well ventilated and no heat issues (near the AC vent in an open space). Considering how little I used the Kinect due to the loud 7.1 tower speaker surround sound I have and the lack of Kinect games, I was shocked it died at all, but again, the lady said it had to do with the update. I had also checked Xbox.com back then to verify my problem was a well known occurrence at the time for some launch owners.

Also, the old post you were responding too was posted like two weeks ago, just fyi.

It does sound like that spot you used for Kinect and PS4 seems to be poor if avoiding heat however.

@SolidTy: Yeah I've read up on the update issue. Is the Kinect updated separately like a controller? Maybe I just never updated mine.

Yeah the shelf in that wall unit has like an inch clearance above the X1. Not good venting since the console vents upwards.

No, it was an Xbone update that killed the Kinect. It was peculiar.

I bought one but after it was discontinued, paid less than 50 bones for it. Still use it, put it and my 2006 OG 360 on mah boat, have about 12 movies for it that I got real cheap as well. :P

Yeah man though some of the movies the HD-DVD seems to have a hard time reading and I need to reboot them a couple times to get them to work but other than that, yeah, happy I've been able to get use out of it these days. :)

Xbox 360 a year after it launched, it sadly stopped working which was sad. But got a replacement from Microsoft in the mail.

For me it was Evolve. Played it for 2hrs and never touched it since. Everytime i look at it now i truly feel i wasted £45

It's a toss up between Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield Hardline. Battlefront was ok for a few hours but the low number of maps (even for a launch) made for a dull experience.

I can't really put a finger on why I didn't care for Hardline. I guess it's because when I play battlefield I think of military shooters. The whole cops and robbers angle just didn't connect with me.

Hands down Evolve for me
