Forza has arrived to a great fanfare of Xbox fans calling it "GT killer" but it really is no such thing at all. GT 4 was not really a game but just a collection of cars to drive and here things are not that different. There is a sense amongst gamers that "simulation driving" is nothing more than giving a game excessive understeer and poor brakes when it comes down to it and the designers here have indeed followed that idea to the letter. Starting with the sensation of speed or lack of it things do not start promisingly and continue in a similar vein. Slow corners actually suffer from slowdown and the collision detection is quite imprecise. Graphically this title is very rough and some courses are so badly presented that the horizon presents a rather drab mess which certainly hinders exact cornering when approaching at speed. The sound of the cars is quite poor and weak, high powered cars sound more like underpowered hair-dryers, farting their way around the small selection of tracks. Online things are not much better with too much lag and a glitch which allows players to accumulate vast amounts of money by cheating means a lot of lobbies are not races but one lap cheats for the money. If you require a simulation driving game then you have to look to GTR or Live for Speed on PC, at a push GT 4 but that isn't much better than what is on offer here.
