Double Impact
Not much in plot just simply a guy that has to wipe out evil aliens in space and spacestations. That's it, which is fine because were really in this game for the action.
The music is good I wouldn't say anything to write home about. The graphical presentaion and design I think is excelent. I really like how your main character is animated whom I think is cool looking and how he moves which is reminicent of "Vector Man" same with the sub enimies whom are cool but strange looking. The futuristic enviorments I think are really cool, like the use of 3D, but just like the designs of the levels it looks and feels similar to "Mega Man" with the use of ladders and certain obsticles.
The action is good, This game took insprational cues from "Mega Man", "Vector Man", and the shooter "Inkarga" and their a great mix.
I wouldn't say it's exactly wall to wall like some run and guns but it's fun all the same. There are a decent amount of sub enimies to fight and even the bosses battle are good they contain three rounds which are like puzzles due to what sequence the obsticles are dished out, and their decent looking bosses. And the game goes at a fast pace.
My favorate part of the game are the shooter levels which I think are a lot of fun. It's remoncent of the shooter "Inkarga" where in that game you change color to be immune to the same colored bullets. When you switch from one screen to the other so you won't get blown away. But what's makes the shooter portion in this game unique is that you have two life gauges on two screens and both run down. It's pritty much the time limit element but with a twist, because you have to actually destroy enough enimies on both screens to keep both gauges full, if you run completely low on one of them you die. I know this seems almost cruel but personally I think it's interesting because it also the risk and reward principle like all shooters have, your motivated to take action, if you execute and time your actions properly then you'll be rewarded with your life, but if you make one false move then you die.
The platforming action is great, each of the levels as I said are well designed their sort of puzzles by their nature, and it really makes great use of the double screens. But what makes it's more interesting is really the use of elemental forces. On one screen you move regualrly but on another you move differently depending on the weather condition. You have to learn to use it to your advantage and it really is an advantage for your teleportation function, it's just a matter of how you see it let alone physics.
Also like the use of color, when you teleport your character changes color. Just like in "Inkarga" it's an indicator as to the lazer fields you can pass safely.
Yes, the game is difficult there are some parts of the game that are tricky and like any hard game you'll die a lot, but strangely it's actually fair and beatable. Preseverence, rythm and manuverability are the keys, if you practice and keep with it for a certain amount of time till you get it right. Which is a good feeling because it's your own skill that will get you though and in each ot the levels there are faster ways to win, if you play this game enough then you might be able to get though them without dying; trust me it's not impossible.
Overall Fractured Soul is double the fun, check it out.
