One of the best modern third person shooters, with awesome gameplay, variety and okay graphics

User Rating: 9.4 | Freedom Fighters PS2
“Freedom Fighters” is a third person shooter game that takes place in New York City, where the Russians have taken control. A plumber (so much for the war experience) named Christopher Stone stands up to the invasion. The rebel also has a brother (not a playable character) who supports him throughout the freedom fight. But Chris is definitely not alone in the game – a recruit system lets you command up to twelve soldiers. The troops can be commanded to defend a certain area (they literary stand guard at one spot and shoot down enemies until you tell them to do otherwise), follow you (run or walk after you, while killing enemies on the way) and scout in a particular direction so you are not killed. Of course you can kill the enemies yourself, which I found pretty easy with the automatic lock-on system. Another good way of killing enemies apart from using your recruits is blowing up a vehicle that is relatively close to an enemy (in order for the impact to affect the Russian foe).
The weapons/items in the game are the following: assault rifle, mounted machine gun, sniper, rocket propelled grenade launcher, revolver, sub machine gun, pistol, fragmentation grenade, C4 explosives, Molotov cocktail, medic kit, binoculars and ammo boxes. To recruit more soldiers you need to gain more charisma, which you get by giving health kits to helpless citizens, accomplishing goals etc. For each charisma level one soldier can be recruited. Even though your soldiers are pretty strong, they can die in a battle but of course you can give them a medic kit in order to get them to fight again. There are four difficulties in the game, each consequent level harder than the previous one. I personally chose the second difficulty. I thought the first one was way too easy and that the third and fourth difficulty levels are too hard. Overall the game is very good and a sequel should definitely be released.
