PS2 owners - consider yourselves lucky! The GameCube version is noticeably worse!!

User Rating: 8.6 | Freedom Fighters PS2
This game is great overall…on the PS2. The GameCube version suffers greatly from two major problems and as a result I gave it only a 7.0. Read my other review if you’re interested. With that said, all in all I had a lot of fun playing the PS2 version. The squad was enjoyable to manipulate, the missions were well designed. The graphics were very good, the sound as well. There isn’t really much to add to the official GameSpot review except one thing… There is no targeting. I’m used third person shooters that have a target at all times in front of me that I'm able to manipulate. This game forces you to constantly auto-target, meaning all you have to do is face toward the enemy and fire and pretty much every bullet will hit its mark. And while this might seem too easy, the developers heightened other aspects of the difficulty to make up for this. I didn’t like it at first, but came to overlook it since the game as a whole is really very good. Aside from this, I don’t have much to add to what’s already been said – it’s a fun, well executed game...as long as you play the PS2 version and avoid the GameCube’s altogether.
