"This Game is one of the Great Treasures of 2004 and if you like shooters you need to add this to you collection&
The Singleplayer Gameplay revolves around you fighting the Red Army in brutal urban guerrilla warfare. The game goes to every major area of New York; from Manhattan to the Bronx you will fight your way through many urban jungles. The game has one of the best control systems for the Gamecube known go man. The game has the Halo control setup but with one major addition, the command buttons. These allow you to command a squad up to twelve men through the urban cityscapes, they also are easy to use but are complex at the same time. The game also has an interesting way of showing the passage of time; slowly Chris slowly begins to degenerate into a hardened warrior and the city of New York slowly degenerate from a beautiful city to a war zone. The Games mission varies by blowing up a bridge or helicopter pad, to assaulting the Red Army Bases.
The one thing Freedom Fighters lacks in is a serious multiplayer, the games multiplayer is simple at best. All it consists of is three maps and one objective, which is to capture the flag in the center of the map. It feels so rushed and almost makes the game look dull, there is no real challenge in playing the multiplayer, it that you never actually have to try to win. All you do is send in as many of your guys into the flag area and kill them, there is no challenge and you yourself are insanely overpowered. You can run in with a pistol and overpower 8 to 10 guys easily. Yet if you send your guys in, your opponent will most likely wipe them out. It makes the squads feel useless when in the single-player they fell almost essential to your victory.
The Games Graphics are good, they’re nothing really to talk about beside the fact of the water in the few island mission. The Graphic are great for there time and they look great even by today’s standards. The one thing that is a little weird is the enemy solders who, for some reason you can never see there face or eyes, but then again you pretty much never fight them to up close and personal. And when you do you kill them in mere seconds.
The Sound is one of the best points of the game. The sounds all blend correctly and there are no serious glitches when it comes to the intense battle scenes. The games sound definitely makes it feel like a war game. From the screams of death to the sound of gunfire in the distance to the voice acting, everything about this games sound is great. The one Sound that really stands out is the Score, which is a good if not better then the original Halo score.
The Sounds of Freedom can be heard throughout this game, and you want to play it one or more times. The One Sad flaw of the Game is its Multiplayer, which feels very much thrown together at the last minute. All in all the game makes you want to start a revolution, and its defiantly a must get for anyone who loves squad based shooters.
