Golden Age superheroes make for a funky mix

User Rating: 8.5 | Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich PC
I was a fan of the first Freedom Force, so when I saw the second one I had to try it. Like the first one, the game has some novel ideas and presentation. You begin with a small roster of super heroes that you can utilize to defeat enemies like a big-brained Nazi or ultimately "Time Master". The game plays a little slow thanks to the constant pausing as you determine what to do next. As you use heroes you gain points to level up their current abilities and gain new ones. You also earn prestige points which can be used to recruit new members. The cutscenes are made to look like pop art comic strips and introduce some chuckle worthy characters, from Ant-Man to Man-Bot. It takes some time to get your characters leveled up. Also the diffiiculty of the game is heavily influenced by what characters you use for each battle. Your choice can sometimes mean the difference between annihilation and an easy victory. Ultimately I felt like this game was an enjoyable experience; you're not missing anything is you choose to skip it, but I would recommend trying either this or the first Freedom Force for a fun superhero strategy romp.
