Updated:1/30/2008, Game is fun but features/GMs(Admins) are crap. Was 8.5 then dropped to 7.5, now its 5.5
Freestyle Street Basketball is a Korean made MMO Sports game published by a known American publisher Sierra. The primary bases of the game you get 1 character slot in which you create your player select his position and join gamerooms hoping the host won't kick you because you lv1.(best to make your own room till you reach lv3). As you level up new skills and Freestyle Moves will become available to you. You can change your attire by buying cloths with the in game currency called "points". Freestyle is now free as off 10/23.
Presentation 7.7/10
Freestyle Street Basketball from now on referred as "FSSB" is published by sierra and licensed material is used. Clothes carry the Marc Ecko Brand, Licensed Theme Song. One fault here is Micro-transactions are quite expensive.
Graphics 7.8/10
The Graphics aren't that great but knowing that its a F2P, micro-transaction based game meant for the masses hardcore and casual players the graphics are understandable. Minor graphical Glitches occur moderately.
Gameplay 7.5/10
The gameplay is as good as it can get, the movement is 8 directional but still delivers, there are primarily only 8 buttons to remember: WASD, Arrow Keys and others dependent on class Q, E, F. The Game System is quite basic level does play a role due to the fact higher level=higher attributes. RECENT EDIT: Im disappointed that offense/defense are unbalanced, every skill in fssb is offense, with a few freestyle defense skills which dont do much but make it look different. Im a defensive player
Shooting require no timing but if you are defended naturally you have a lesser chance of making it. Blocking is strictly timing/positioning/connection and a bit into level. Rebounding is simple same factors are blocking but if a lv15 rebounds exactly the same time/position as a lv8, 15 has the priority. Stealing the ball using the "S" button on a person is based on where you whack it from and the other players dribble rating. Pass Intercepting is chance/positioning/lag/steal vs. pass attribute.
Basically all im saying is the gameplay is simple enough that 5 yr olds can play it, though at times I do feel as if Im playing 5yr olds. But all n all the gameplay is addictive and fun, you'll spend your free time playing this.
Sound 8/10
Licensed Artist for original theme, music that fits the gameplay. Sounds effect are done well.
Community 7.5/10
On Occasion you'll run into the cocky player, the kobe wannabe, the ballhog, the whiner, the plain dumb, the giant lagger, the stat whore, etc... But a good thing is not everyone is like that. Many will brag saying i play BBall in Real Life, other will say "you a C you suppose to reb and pass". Best to play this game with people you know that way you WILL win for sure unless you face another bunch of friends. GM occasionally come to get their arses handed to them in games.
Network 7.7/10
FSSB is using P2P technology along with a server, if one player is on a 56k modem while everyone else is on a 6Mb connection that 56k guy will drag everyone else's ping down, on occasion if everyone in gameroom lags Sierra's server will host to lessen the lag, Lag plays a big factor in Rebounding, Blocking so dont be surprised if Cs, PFs leave while the game is launching.
Content 7.8/10
As of today not much new content has been seen, hopefully there will be some later on. New Content for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and christmas are available but no new freestyles or skills yet
Lasting Appeal 10/10
Its a MMO Sports game theres no end to it. Alway new faces to pwn, old ones for vengeance. Overall FSSB is a fun addictive promising MMO arcade sports game, Ignoring the at times bad community, laggy gameplay, and average graphics, the game is better than any other mmo Sports game coming up or released now. Recently FSSB has announced Free-2-Play completely.
7.5/10 Overall(not Averaged)
Great, Better than the PC version of NBA Live 08.
