From the Abyss plays an excellent adventure game with many different playing styles and character styles.

I think this game is great because that it seemed like a letdown at the beginning. When you buy a DS game it's 50/50 whether you'll like it or not. I took the leap and bought this game. You start out in a kingdom distressed by a portal of evil called the "abyss" each abyss has different types of monsters, from piles of biotic glue to giant golems with axes. There are 4 weapon styles which include, spears/staves, swords, axes and bows. Each one has it's weaknesses and strengths. There is also a VERY strong magic side to this game. Trying to sync magic with a combat character doesn't turn out well, and vice versa. You can gain a wide variety of powers and spells to smite your enemies with, fireballs to tornadoes, ice bolts to rock pillars. You can either buy or "soul capture" powers and spells from enemies. Once you get to the boss of a stage and hopefully defeat him, you can visit the queen to recieve your reward which can be Lufia(currency), items or both.
One of the best features is that you can play the game with a friend of the DS wireless connection. The gameplay is barely changed at all subtracting a few rewards obtained by monsters. Note that you cannot trade items or drop them. So bne careful when playing with a low level friend who wants an item.
To sum it up,
This game is great and kills time easily, good for a toilet sit or a long flight.
