Finally a game that doesn't hold your hand all the time. Yes, there's a lot of luck, but also a lot of learning.

Definitely worth trying out.

It' a rogue-like, in space. There's a lot of luck, but in a few hours (at most, that is if you make it) you'll be able to get a feeling for what the game is about. What I've enjoyed most about it is the fact that there is very little hand-holding. The more you play the game, the more you learn about how things work and what your different strategies might be. So, which weapons work well, which aren't worth the effort, etc. So, it's not so much a game about getting to the end and winning (though that's important) as much as it is about figuring out how it all works. From that perspective, it's super rewarding.

The downside? Well, given the randomness in the game a lot of things feel very arbitrary. You can lose the game in 30 seconds if you have some bad luck (and didn't may attention). It also seems like there aren't that many ways to beat the end boss - you either stack a lot of weapons or there's no way you can win. I haven't tried a "run, don't fight" strategy but my sense is that it won't work. At all.
