Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers is a fun and interesting concept for the shooter francise.
When I saw the commericals for the game I was rather thrilled I don't own a Xbox and it looked like a game that had been ported with lots of care and thought and for the most part I was right.
GAMEPLAY
For anyone not familiar with how Full Spectrum Warrior works you play a 2 teams of Soldiers called Alpha and Bravo. You control these two squads indirectly and see things from there point of view. You do not control a given character and cannot aim and shoot a gun yourself. This might seem like a boring or strange idea but it works well and gives an authentic point of view of battle. Sometimes you will be able to control a third and even fourth unit. I was afraid the game might be buthcered like Ghost Recon was with the amount of units cut down but thankfully they weren't.
When you engage an enemy you must have one team draw there fire while another team flanks them. Normally you cannot defeat a foe by exchanging fire head to head. So you must direct a squad around the enemy and catch them at there blindspot. This can be pretty easy because the enemy rarely does anything but duck and shoot. Thankfully the AI is just as dumb in the Xbox version.
GRAPHICS
Now since this is a ps2 title and anyone who follows the consoles will agree the ps2 is the **** current gen system. It has very weak rendering and RAM power compared to the other systems and you can see the affect in Full Spectrum Warrior. The graphics engine looks like a dumbed down socom engine. It's not ugly but look at a screenshot on the Xbox verson and you'll know what your missing. All the affects are there and besides a really low res texture.
SOUND
I'm not really that big on sound there is nothing to great or bad about it. Gunfire sounds weak though.
VALUE
Online and Co-op add alot to the game and considering it is a ps2 game and Online Co-op is normally a Xbox exclusive it says alot fot he quality of the port. The connection is solid and lag is little to none so even if you only get it for it's online value its still worth it.
In the End Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers is a unique game that is solid enough as it is but could of used some more polish the ps2 CAN do better.
