A fun, fairly easy, entertaining game. Not bad at all.

User Rating: 8 | Futurama XBOX
The "professional" reviewer of this game seems to have a trend of frequently being way off on what the general gaming public thinks of games. Although Futurama isn't groundbreaking in any regards, rating this game as "poor" when there's nothing that can clearly be labeled as wrong about this game is just piss poor. In reality, Futurama is an enjoyable, fully functional game that delves into multiple genres. The storyline, particularly the ending (which I won't spoil) is very silly. But it's FUTURAMA, I think you should expect that going in. And although you won't find yourself ROFL'ing, you'll likely get a chuckle out of a few lines.

You control 4 charcters throughout the game, and this results in 4 distinct styles of gameplay. Fry's levels play like a standard third person shooter, Bender's are like a beat 'em up / platformer, and Layla's are like a Tomb Raider style platformer, they're probably the most fun. There's also one level with a Dr. (can't remember his name, I'm not a big fan of the show), in which you are on an animal and have to run along a designated path, avoiding obstacles, in a set period of time.

The graphics are what they are. Since the game is based off of a cartoon, there's a limit to how good they can be. I've seen a lot of criticism for the graphics, but keep in mind the cartoon isn't known for it's detailed animation, so it makes sense that the game has the same type of animation. The sounds are actually pretty good. The same voice actors that perform for the show also perform for the game. And the sound effects, believe it or not, rival most shooters.

The gameplay is suprisingly good. The movements are precise, not stiff & clunky at all, with the exception of the 1 obstacle course type level. The platforming areas of the game are challenging, but they're not challenging to the point where it's a constant die & start over process. The game length isn't very long, but it's not terribly short either. I probably got 8-10 hours of gameplay out of the game, that's one run-through of the mission.

All in all, this is a pretty underrated game. I'm not a big fan of Futurama, I've maybe watched it twice. But I'd recommend this game to anyone looking for a game that doesn't take itself too seriously and isn't too extremely difficult. And if you ARE a Futurama fan, what are you waiting for? You'll love it.
