Galaga Is A Very Addictive Game That Is Worth 400 Points. And Quite Frankly Its Worth Every Point.

User Rating: 8.4 | Galaga X360
Galaga For Xbox360.

THE GOOD : Very Addictive, Catchy Little Tunes And Beeps, Fun, Offers Some Fun To Get Achievements.

THE BAD : Achievements Are Too Easy To Get, Gets A Bit Repetitive, Graphics Could Have Been A Tiny Bit Better.

Today I Brought Galaga Off Xbox Marketplace For 400 Points.

I Brought It Off A Limb, I Wasn't Expecting It To Be Very Good BUT The Moment It Started Up And I Was Blowing Aliens and there Space Ships To Hell I Realised That this is an extremely addictive and fun game.

The Objective of the game is just too destroy every enemy ship and alien on the screen using your missiles.

Gameplay : The gameplay in this is good. There is quite a bit of variety in the enemies they are all different colors and they have different speeds and patterns of fire. If you can manage to get your self caught by an enemies tractor beam, after you get caught you can shoot the ship that caught your ship and you will gain A Dual Fighter which can be very helpful.

There is more than just normal stages though, There are “challenging stages” where waves of bugs fly onto the screen like normal, but do not move into formation, instead exiting the screen after flying around a short while. Your objective on these stages is to shoot as many of the bugs as possible, getting you a higher score and if you are lucky an Achievement.

One of Galaga's most defining quirks is its “dual fighter” feature. By letting one of the bugs suck your fighter up with a tractor beam, and subsequently shooting down the bug (which is holding your captured ship), you can use the two ships simultaneously, giving you twice the firepower. There is also a two-player mode, where one player takes over after the other dies (and then the first plays when the second dies, and so on.)

Graphics : The Graphics Are Easy on the eye and a a pleasure to look at, the textures (if any) are nice and smooth. The Graphics could still have featured a bit more Vroom if you know what i mean. The graphics are the classic ones the game always had, ripped straight from 1981. However, rather than the playing field take up the whole screen, it is surrounded by a border made from the graphics from the arcade machine's cabinet. This looks nice, to some extent, but playing the game in full screen would not have been nicer. Sound : The Sound Is Wonderful, The Sweeps The Bleeps And The Creeps (ala Spaceballs) It is nice to listen to. The Best thing of the sound is when your ship gets captured by a tractor beam ship, that music is AWESOME.

Overall, like I said in my headline, Galaga is Galaga is Galaga. This release hasn't fundamentally changed from the one that came out over 20 years ago. This isn't necessarily a bad or good thing. If you liked it then, you will most likely like it now. If you loathed it then, the same applies. Personally, I think Galaga was a great and innovative game at the time, and, while showing its age, still maintains a high fun factor. It's cheap and has easy achievement points. I'd say it's worth a buy.
