The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has arrived, finally giving Zelda her turn as the lead of a mainline game. This 2D entry in the series features a brand new mechanic called Echoes, which are duplicates of various objects and monsters that Zelda can create. These Echoes are used to solve puzzles and as combat tools, so having a wide variety of them available is incredibly beneficial. There are a total of 127 Echoes in the game to collect.
Collecting Echoes is a fairly simple process in Echoes of Wisdom. For objects, those that can be copied sparkle, so you can easily spot them. For monsters, the first time you defeat a monster they will drop a small, floating version of themselves that you can copy. Once you copy an Echo for the first time, it is permanently added to your collection.
Echoes of Wisdom is a landmark entry in the series for a few different reasons. In addition to Zelda taking the role of the main protagonist for the first time, this is also the first game in the series to have a female director. The game also originally started as what sounds like a Mario Maker-style game where you make and share dungeons, but the copy-and-paste tool built for it had enough potential they decided to make an entire game about it. This game design also led to Zelda taking the starring role, since series producer Eiji Aonuma believed that Link's sword would get in the way of the new gameplay.
This also marks the first new 2D Zelda since the release of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, which both influenced this game. The influences shine through the use of the Echoes, which offer the same open ended puzzle solving found in those games. Below you can find the Echoes, presented in the same order as the in-game list. There is one secret echo that isn't included in this list as to avoid heavy spoilers.
