All Romance Options In Assassin's Creed Shadows

Are you curious about the romance options in Assassin's Creed Shadows? The Sengoki Jidai period is a time of war, though it's also possible for love to blossom in times of conflict. In fact, both Yasuke and Naoe end up meeting comrades who are looking for more than just a little flirtation or a brief tryst. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.

There are several romance options in the game, though they're locked to specific playable characters only. Our guide has all the details you need so you can cozy up with various characters as you explore the vast landscape of Japan.

Here's a quick summary of what you can expect from the Assassin's Creed Shadows romance system:

• IMPORTANT: Do not enable Canon Mode in your playthrough. Canon Mode prevents you from swapping characters or making key dialogue choices. As such, you could miss out on romance opportunities.
• Naoe has her own romance options, as does Yasuke. You need to play as a particular character for certain segments of the campaign/quest to complete objectives.
• Some recruitable allies/companions can become romance options as well. Allies provide you with passive boons, and they can also be summoned during battles.
• Flirting - During conversations, you should see responses with heart icons. Select these to flirt with a character.
• Romance scene - Later on, you'll notice a heart with an arrow icon. This leads to a romance scene with that character.
• You can romance multiple characters without getting locked out of potential opportunities. Even if you've already gotten the love scene with one NPC, you can still "do the deed for the creed" with others.

Unfortunately, the two playable characters aren't able to romance each other. For the most part, they act as friends/comrades, a platonic relationship where they respect one another's combat prowess and principles.

• Potential ally/companion: Yes
• Tip: You'll first encounter Gennojo while tackling the missions to find The Fool. Specifically, he'll show up as you're searching for Ise Sadatame's messenger. Once you've eliminated The Fool, Gennojo will present you with a side quest. You'll then be able to romance him while playing as Naoe.

• Potential ally/companion: Yes
• Tip: Katsuhime is yet another Assassin's Creed Shadows romance option. She appears during the Omi arc, where you're hot on the heels of The Naginata member of the Shinbakufu. Aside from key responses, there's also an important moment where you have to save her from certain death.

• Potential ally/companion: No
• Tip: Koshiro is first encountered during the arc where you have to face The Ox. Make sure you spare the life of his old buddy, Commander Seiji at this stage. Later, you must also eliminate Genzaburo's Soldiers. Finally, you have to wait for one full season to elapse, do an errand, and pick all the sweet responses as Naoe.

• Romanced by: Yasuke
• Potential ally/companion: Yes
• Tip: Ibuki is a ronin, a samurai without a master. They also feel disdain toward Yasuke for his actions while part of Oda Nobunaga's army. Still, it's possible to have them change their demeanor. Bear in mind, however, that you need to make several good/ideal choices while tackling his quests. Getting all the bad outcomes will dissuade Ibuki from joining you.

• Potential ally/companion: No
• Tip: Lady Oichi is actually the sister of Oda Nobunaga, which means a potential romance with Yasuke is already far from the norm given their different social status. She also has a fairly noteworthy arc, as she plays a role in flashbacks and present-day missions as you hunt down The Mourner. You need to make some important decisions to ensure that she and Yasuke are able to share a loving moment.

• Potential ally/companion: No
• Tip: Hori Hidemasa wants revenge on the people who betrayed Oda Nobunaga. This creates another assassination board that you can complete. Once you're done, tell Hidemasa that "meeting him was your reward" to get a lovey-dovey scene between the two samurai.

• Potential ally/companion: No
• Tip: Rin wants to start a new life, and she needs someone to teach her how to fend for herself. Yasuke is more than willing to lend a hand, too. Here's the kicker: Rin's subsequent quests only become active whenever you transition to a new season. As such, you have to wait for enough time to pass in game just to complete her entire arc.
