Halloween 2024 In-Game Events To Check Out For Spooky Season

Spooky (and not so spooky) events are underway
It's spooky season, and like usual, a number of video games are celebrating Halloween 2024 with in-game events. Many games continue to roll out new events, which more sure to come--Destiny 2's annual Festival of the Lost, for instance, won't be starting until the unusually late date of October 29.
For now, Halloween events are confirmed for Call of Duty, Warzone, No Man's Sky, Fortnite, and much more.
Below, we run through some of the biggest, most notable Halloween events in video games, including dates on when these events run and what you can expect from them.

Call of Duty
Call of Duty's popular The Haunting event returns in 2024, headlined by horror icon Michael Myers returning to the game. The Haunting began on September 18 and runs through the Halloween season.
During the event, players can purchase playable characters and DLC bundles based on scary people like Michael Myers and Art the Clown from the Terrifier movie series, along with a DLC bundle that turns Makarov and Valeria into smiling soldiers as part of a partnership with Paramount Pictures for Smile 2.

Hello Kitty: Island Adventure
Hello Kitty: Island Adventure might not sound like a spooky game, but through its live-service model, it's been updated for Halloween with what's called a Spooky Celebration. It launched on September 27 and runs through Halloween, inviting players to style themselves and their creations with spooky outfits and decorations.
Fortnitemares
Fortnite's annual Fortnitemares event is returning on October 11, and in addition to Billy the Puppet from the Saw series, the event adds the devil himself--Mephisto.
Dead by Daylight
Behaviour Interactive has announced a Halloween event for Dead by Daylight called Haunted by Daylight. The event brings back the game's 2v8 mode with new killers, maps, special abilities, and classes. The Castlevania-inspired Dominus tome is also coming to the game through the Halloween event.
Additionally, players can buy items from the Void Collection, including special outfits for Kate Denson, Adam Francis, and Zarina Kassir. There are also "grotesque, gruesome, and endlessly oozing" new items for The Pig, The Good Guy, and The Deathslinger.
What's more, players can buy new, Halloween-inspired items for Ellen Ripley from the Alien series.
The Haunted by Daylight event runs October 17-November 7.
Red Dead Online
Red Dead Online, the multiplayer mode for Red Dead Redemption II, is celebrating Halloween this year in a number of ways. There is a mode called All Hallows' Call to Arms, which calls on players to defend settlements against waves of attackers--human and otherwise. This mode pays out double rewards all October long.
Additionally, the Halloween Pass 2 returns, offering up all manner of spooky-themed items for purchase.

Stumble Guys
Stumble Guys, the Fall Guys-like battle royale game, is getting a Halloween update beginning October 24. When the update goes live, players will get to try out a variety of Halloween-themed events with the aim of unlocking new, themed rewards. Additionally, the spooky season vibes continue with the return of the Ghostbusters DLC and Halloween-themed Stumbler characters.
GTA Online
GTA Online, the multiplayer mode for GTA V, is celebrating Halloween with a rotation of Halloween-themed adversary modes that will pay out double GTA$ and RP to all players through November 6. GTA+ subscribers, meanwhile, will earn up to 4X GTA$ and RP.
Anyone who plays GTA Online through October 9 will get the Black Demon Goat Mask (above).

Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite's live-service campaign continues this year with a special Halloween-themed event that runs October 8-November 5. During that time, players can access a free 20-tier Operation Pass that includes Halloween-themed rewards, Halo Studios said in a blog post.
Towerborne
Xbox Game Studio sand Stoic have released the Early Access Update 1 for Towerborne that introduces Halloween-themed content.

Overwatch 2
Overwatch 2 Season 13, Spellbinder, is arriving just in time for Halloween, and Blizzard is delivering a new Junkenstein-themed PvP game mode to celebrate.
Called Junkenstein's Laboratory, the mode will mutate the abilities of heroes like Reinhardt, Moira, and Mercy in "fast-paced" team deathmatch rounds, with Blizzard stating in a blog post that the spooky ability mutations will "challenge even the most seasoned players." The mode will be available alongside the season launch on October 15 and run through November 4, but additional details, like what kind of alterations will be made to each hero's abilities, have yet to be revealed.
The Lord of the Rings Online
The Harvestmath Festival returns to The Lord of the Rings Online this Halloween season. The MMO is offering up all manner of new quests and rewards themed around the spooky season.

Quidditch Champions
The Harry Potter game Quidditch Champions is celebrating spooky season with its own in-game event. It features a new pitch and more rewards, all themed around spooky stuff.
Rainbow Six Siege
Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege is celebrating Halloween with an event called Doktor's Curse, and it's live now in the game.
"Running through November 6, this limited-time event casts the Attackers as Hunters who must seek out the Monsters (Defenders) who lurk inside a nighttime Frankenstein's Castle version of the Theme Park map," reads a line from its description.
Players can unlock new cosmetics and will even earn a free event pack simply for logging in during the event.
Rocket League
Psyonix's Rocket League is celebrating Halloween with an event called Haunted Hallows--and it's more than just spooky content. The event includes Spider-Man and Venom content, presumably to help promote the release of Venom: The Last Dance. Disney Dreamlight Valley
Disney Dreamlight Valley has added new Halloween-themed quests that are live now through October 31. This largely revolves around collecting and eating candy or planting and harvesting pumpkins, with rewards including things like a Mickey Mouse pumpkin.
No Man's Sky
Alongside the 5.20 update, No Man's Sky has launched a new expedition called The Cursed. This is a spooky-themed limited-time event of sorts that you can take part in to unlock, among other things, a UFO-style ship. You'll encounter ghostly figures and have to maintain your sanity when dealing with them. As of October 23, this is set to begin soon and will be available for two weeks.
Diablo IV
Diablo IV will get into the spirit beginning on October 29. Each day from then through November 1, at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET, you'll be able to claim a free cosmetic item from the in-game shop. You don't necessarily need to log in each day to grab them, as you'll have until November 5 at 12 PM PT to claim anything you missed. The items, as pictured above, are:
- October 29: The Recluse’s Host Mount
- October 30: Ichorflame Torch Mount Trophy
- October 31: Recluse’s Flask Mount Trophy
- November 1: Reclusive Trappings Mount Armor
Additionally, The Butcher is hosting something called Meat or Treat. While in a dungeon, shrines can have unspecified "surprise effects" that are cast in addition their normal effects. From the sound of it, these can be positive or negative.
