How To Unlock The Campsite Gate In Blue Prince

Are you curious about the Orchard Gate or Campsite Gate in Blue Prince? This white picket fence seems to bar your path leading to another area just beyond, but there's a sure-fire way to gain access to this place permanently. Buckle up because you need to go for a bit of a trek inside and outside the manor.

How to unlock the Apple Orchard and Campsite Gate in Blue Prince

The Apple Orchard is a unique location in the outskirts of the manor. If you're facing the manor, keep going east (i.e. to your right) and you'll notice your character's Campsite. Just past that, you'll see a white picket fence. Behind the fence is an open yard and a small shed.

Now, if you interact with the gate, you'll see that it's locked with a keypad. While we're itching to tell you about the correct combination--which you can input whenever you please--let's discuss how you can acquire the clues first just in case you want to solve this task on your own.

The clue for the Blue Prince Campsite Gate or Apple Orchard area can be found in the Dark Room. This is a red-color room, which means it has its own debuffs/hassles when you draft it in the manor. Specifically, the lights go out when you enter it during each run, which restricts your ability to see which rooms are available to draft. Essentially, you have no clue as to what room you'll draft from it unless you turn the lights back on.

To turn the lights back on, you must draft a Utility Closet. This room happens to have the Breaker Box Puzzle, which has its own nifty secret. But, for the clue itself, just focus on toggling on the switch for the Dark Room.

Toggling the switch turns on the lights in the Dark Room, allowing you to inspect various documents and notes in the area. However, there's yet another item that you need for the clue itself: the Magnifying Glass.

Similar to the other tools in Blue Prince, the Magnifying Glass tends to randomly appear in rooms that you explore in the manor. It's also possible to buy it by spending gold if ever it pops up in the Commissary's wares.

Let's say you do have the Magnifying Glass with you. Go ahead and check one of the photos near the corner of the Dark Room--i.e. the one with the same picket fence just outside the manor. Now, bring the Magnifying Glass closer to the tree trunk.

Surprise! You just found a well-hidden date etched on the tree: 11-28.

Go back to the Campsite Gate and input "1-1-2-8" on the keypad to unlock the fence. Oh, and don't worry if you run out of steps. You can also do this anytime you feel like it, even without having any prior knowledge about the clue. But, hey, gathering hints is more fun that skipping straight ahead to the solution, right?

Anyway, you've now unlocked the Blue Prince Apple Orchard or Campsite Gate area. The Apple Orchard itself is a permanent upgrade that grants +20 to your maximum starting steps. This means you'll have 70 steps at the start of your run (barring other bonuses), which is really useful for long treks through the manor. Oh, and this isn't the only permanent bonus in the game. There are others to acquire from the Garage Door/West Gate Path, Laboratory, and the aforementioned Utility Closet/Breaker Box.

Last but not least, you should check the other stuff in the yard. The small shed has a note pertaining to the Cloister room. There's also the gas valve in the corner, which activates one of the four blue flames at the Grounds.
