Do you want to get more Ivory Dice in Blue Prince? This item might be one of the most important resources in the game. It lets you redraw or reroll the three room options that appear. In doing so, you'll have more flexibility when it comes to pathing toward your goal, or generating a particular room you need.
How to get more redraws and Ivory Dice in Blue Prince - Redraw guide
By default, Ivory Dice, as well as a means of redrawing rooms, tend to be fairly hard to come by, and with good reason. You're supposed to select from the rooms available to you. Sure, you might not get what you want, which is why you have to adjust to the circumstances.
Still, the more redraws you have, the more your run becomes manageable. For instance, instead of getting the Dark Room, Furnace, and the dreaded Lavatory, one reroll might net you the Hallway, Rotunda, and Vault.
Do note that the most common way of earning redraws is via the Ivory Dice in Blue Prince. Ivory Dice, similar to other items, appear randomly in the manor. They can be found in dead-end rooms, or inside chests or on desks. You just need to keep your eyes peeled. It's also worth adding that there are ways to obtain more Ivory Dice as you progress.
Boudoir: +2 Ivory Dice
It's always a good idea to draft the Boudoir whenever it appears as an option. Not only does it have a safe that you can unlock, its effect via an Upgrade Disk actually gives you +2 Ivory Dice that you can find on the dresser.
Guest Bedroom + Tomb: +6 Ivory Dice
Another great way to earn more Ivory Dice in Blue Prince is via the Guest Bedroom perk via an Upgrade Disk. If you choose the Geist Bedroom perk, the Guest Bedroom will automatically have +2 Ivory Dice inside. Even better, if you draft the Tomb as an Outer Room, the Guest Bedroom will have an additional +4 Ivory Dice.
Laboratory: Experimental House Features
The Laboratory can also net you extra Ivory Dice and redraws in Blue Prince. This comes from experimentation projects:
- Effect: Choose the effect that sets your dice to +2 if the option is available.
- Cause/trigger: Pick something that you're likely to trigger often during your run.
- For example, if you have a Keycard or if you disabled the Keycard VAC system, you can choose: "Each time you unlock or bypass a security door."
- Alternatively, if you have a Shovel and you drafted the Root Cellar outer room, you'll see a bunch of dirt piles everywhere in the mansion. The trigger should be: "Each time you dig up trash."
Trading Post: Ivory Dice from trades
The Trading Post lets you exchange various items that you've found to receive Ivory Dice. You can get anywhere from one die to around four depending on the item/tool that you hand over.
Study: Use gems to redraw
The Study changes things up once you plop it down in your house. Instead of using Ivory Dice, you can spend your gems to redraw rooms up to eight times for that particular run. This is quite amazing, though you should still be mindful of your rerolls since gems are needed to draft more advanced/special rooms.
Closed Exhibit: Red Paper Crown
Aside from Ivory Dice, there are a couple of other methods to have reliable redraws in Blue Prince. For instance, if you can complete the Closed Exhibit Puzzle, you'll acquire the Red Paper Crown. When it's in your inventory, you can keep redraw from the selection pool as long as there's no red room among the options.
Observatory: Inkwell Constellation and Stars
Last but not least, the Observatory provides a massive boon when you reach 50 stars. You can amass stars through a variety of ways, such as visiting the Observatory multiple times, gaining procs from Laboratory experiments, choosing the Morningstar in the Armory, and others.
Once you have a total of 50 stars, visit the Observatory and look into the telescope. You'll see a constellation called the Ink Well. Once active, it lets you spend stars to redraw floorplans.
Note that spending stars, naturally, lowers your tally. As such, you have to reach 50 stars again if you want the Ink Well constellation to reappear.
