So, you want to light torches and candles in Blue Prince? There are several locations in the game where you'll see these objects in the environment. At the back of your mind, you're thinking that you should be able to interact with them. Well, you certainly can. We're here to help you do just that, but please take note that this article contains minor spoilers.
How to light candles and torches in Blue Prince
There are a couple of items that allow you to light candles in the game. These are the Burning Glass and the Torch. And, of course, randomization does apply, so you're not always guaranteed to find these in your playthrough.
Note: You lose all the items you acquire when the day ends. That means you need to pray to the RNG gods that you can craft/find them again. To make things easier, you can leave an item in the Coat Check, and then retrieve it in a future run.
How to get the Burning Glass
The Burning Glass can be crafted via the Workshop, which you should always draft in every run. It requires the following tools:
- Magnifying Glass
- Metal Detector
How to get the Torch
The Torch, meanwhile, has a chance to appear in the Armory. You can purchase it for 8 gold.
Note 1: The Armory isn't available by default. You can only get it if you complete the Chess Puzzle. Not only that, but you must also choose the Knight Power when given the chance.
Note 2: If you're already done with this puzzle but you chose a different power, well, you can still change to something else. The only problem is that you need to complete the Chess Puzzle once more.
Where can I light candles and torches in the manor?
Now that you're able to light torches and candles in Blue Prince, it's time to do a bit of exploration. As a general rule, you should look for places with a lot of candles or places that require heat. You can then approach these objects to see an interaction icon. Here are a couple of examples:
- Chapel - You can light the two candles next to the altar. This will reveal a piggy bank that you can break for good. We don't recommend doing this too early.
- Freezer - We consider the Freezer as one of the best rooms to draft in the game because it can "freeze" your resources for your next run. That said, you might want to consider placing a Furnace or Sauna next to it to thaw the items. Also, if you have a Burning Glass or Torch, you can melt the ice inside the machine itself to grab some goodies.
Are there other locations where I can light candles and torches?
There are other places where the Burning Glass and Torch prove to be useful:
- Underground Roundtable - If you drain the Fountain, you'll come across a chamber with a large sigil/glyph in the middle (as seen in the featured image of this guide). You can try lighting the candelabras to see what happens next.
- Tunnel - There's also a tunnel in front of the manor. It's quite dark here, but you should see a couple of torches. You can even get the Tunnel floorplan early. Oh, and beyond this point, there are dozens of crates that you need to remove, but you don't need to focus on that task right now.
That does it for our guide on how to light torches and candles in Blue Prince. Don't forget that these tools go hand in hand with another gizmo, one that lets you destroy walls.
