Who's who in the Borderlands movie

It's been a long time coming, but the Borderlands movie is finally coming to theaters this year. The movie has a star-studded cast that includes Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, and Jack Black as the voice of Claptrap. That's right, the Borderlands movie has two Oscar-winners in its main cast (Blanchett and Curtis).

Movie studio Lionsgate released character posters for each of the main characters, and you can get a closer look in this gallery.

The Borderlands film was directed by Eli Roth (Hostel, Inglourious Basterds), as well as Deadpool's Tim Miller, who came in to work on the re-shoots. Gearbox's Randy Pitchford is an executive producer on the project.

You can watch the first Borderlands movie trailer here.

It's not immediately clear what the story for the Borderlands movie might be, or how closely it might connect to any of the games. The movie exists in its own universe and is not canon.

The Borderlands movie releases on August 9. It's one of numerous upcoming video game movies--check out GameSpot's rundown of 35 video game movies in the works to see more.

As for the Borderlands game series, Pitchford might have recently dropped a major tease about Borderlands 4.

LMAO the only one that looks kinda right is Krieg (because you don't even see their face, you just need a brawny guy).

Lilith and Dr. Tannis look like they came out of a retirement home.
Claptrap should've been the original voice actor (but I can't complain too much yet with the choice otherwise).
Tiny Tina, isn't. She's supposed to look like she's malnourished living on her own.
And Roland wasn't that short. If he was to bulk up, he'd be a lot closer though.

It looks like a fan film so far. And considering they won't be doing the iconic cell shading, this so far is a big oof.
