Dragon Age: The Veilguard stars Rook, one of Varric's comrades who has found themselves the leader of a ragtag group. With a campaign that's likely to take you dozens of hours to complete, you might be wondering if you have to spend all that time staring at the same character. Don't worry since you can actually change your Rook's appearance in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
How to change your character's appearance in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
To change your character's appearance in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you just need to interact with the Mirror of Transformation in the Lighthouse. This will open up an interface similar to what you saw during character creation.
Where to find the Mirror of Transformation
The Mirror of Transformation is in the infirmary room on the second floor of the Lighthouse. It's across the corner from where Varric is resting.
What can you change after starting the campaign?
For the most part, you can change almost the entirety of Rook's appearance in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This includes the following features:
- Appearance presets
- Head shape, complexion, body proportions, and the like
- Hairstyle, hair color, makeup, and tattoos
Also, in the Finalize screen, you can change your character's voice type and pitch. You may also input a different first name--your character's last name is always derived from your chosen faction at the start of the campaign. However, you will not be able to alter your lineage/race, class, or faction anymore.
Known issues
While the process is fairly straightforward, we have experienced a few issues during our playthrough, such as:
- Loading a save sometimes caused our character, a female Rook or FemRook, to revert to the default face preset.
- Sometimes, our character appeared without a body.
- There were also instances when our FemRook turned into a bald man in the inventory screen.
Reloading a save tends to fix some of these problems. However, there were instances when we had to relaunch the game. We do hope that these issues are patched in due course.
