How long does it take to beat Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Dragon Age: The Veilguard presents a massive campaign, boasting half a dozen explorable regions and even a few secret locations. For those who plan on rushing through the campaign--which we definitely don't recommend--you can expect to spend roughly 25 to 30 hours if you just want to focus on the story.
But, because there are a lot of side activities to tackle, you're more likely to put in 70 hours or more for a completionist playthrough. Of course, you'd have to add dozens of hours if you plan on creating a new character with a different class, race, and faction.

Lastly, once you receive the When Plans Align mission, you're also notified about the point of no return, as that leads to the campaign's conclusion.
What you'll miss out on: Companions and relationship goals
You're going to meet seven companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Each character has their own personal quest arc, some of which unlock new areas that lead to rewards. You're going to miss out on these if you focus solely on the main quests.
Moreover, there are some time-sensitive companion interactions, too. Take note of character portraits with a clock icon, which means you need to speak with that companion immediately. If you progress too far into the campaign, then those opportunities might disappear.
Here are some companion-related guides to help you out:
What you'll miss out on: Other side content
While you'll more or less spend 30 hours on Dragon Age: The Veilguard's main story, there are numerous activities that you can still tackle:
- Faction and region quests - These are integral if you want to unlock additional areas and boost a faction's strength for the finale.
- Crossroads areas - The Crossroads has several portals that take you to various regions. But it also has a series of quests where you'll be able to discover secrets. These include the Heart of Corruption and Regrets of the Dread Wolf.
- All sorts of loot - You can acquire unique items from quests and treasure chests.
- Collectibles - Statues, such as Fen'harel Altars and Evanuris Altars, further boost your capabilities.
That does it for our guide on how long it takes to beat Dragon Age: The Veilguard's campaign. Breezing through the story might be okay for those that are pressed for time, but we urge you to complete as much of the game as possible.
The lands of Thedas are under threat from formidable foes, including some menacing elven gods, and it's up to Rook and their allies to save the day. For more tips and tactics, you can visit our Dragon Age: The Veilguard guides hub.
