Redfall's first gameplay trailer is bloody and brutal

Microsoft has kept a tight lid on Arkane's upcoming co-op shooter Redfall since it was first announced with a fancy CGI teaser trailer, but the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase kicked off with a proper look at how the game will play. Meh, not really blown away here. Starfield looks great, Redfall and Ravenlok sound interesting and I'm excited about Forza Motorsports. I should be excited by the ESO and Fallout expansions, but I haven't played either of them in so long I'm not sure I want to go back and relearn everything.

@johnny0779: Glad you liked it Johnny, but have you seen the polls? Less than 25% of people gave it an 'A'.

Games that would have gotten me excited: 007, Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Gears 6, Perfect Dark, MechAssault....all missing. Plenty of Switch games on there for kids though.

@just1mohr: No matter what anyone does its never good enough. People feel as though they need someone or a company to hype them up. They cant just enjoy what they like and ignore the rest. Id say many people put way too much thought and effort into these showcases as a viewer. Almost as if the biggest complainers literally do nothing else in life but play video games.

@just1mohr: What does him liking it have to do with all those irrelevant opinions? As long as he likes it is all that matters. He doesn't have to read those reviews they are irrelevant to him. Sad that people have a problem with others liking something.

Edit: After scrolling down and reading more comments. I see that you and him have a thing for back and forth fan boy wars. In that case never mind my comment. Carry on.

@worlds_apart: Most the time we are on the same page, but not this time. I don't mind him loving it, but I just don't see it. I hope the extended showcase has some great 3rd party games to make up for this...FOR ME.

I will say this though, the format of the show was top-notch and with gameplay shown instead of worthless trailers and non-stop talking devs. Great pace and bang, bang, bang, one game after another...it was crazy the amount of games they showed...just not many that I want to play and not the reason I got an XB for.

Its funny that people were dissapointed with the show. I guess I get it, people always have unrealistic expactations for these shows.

I would have loved to see some more announcments like a new Quake, Wolfenstein, Gears etc. but I like that they took a different approach, and showed actual gameplay, and only games that will be on Xbox in the next 12 months.

I think theyll likely do some announcements at Gamescom, as theyll want to save something for that.

Redfall, Starfield, Diablo 4, and Overwatch 2 look awesome to me. Although, I was kinda pissed Overwatch went F2P, honestly, would have preferred it stayed as a paid game.

I think its interesting that they are already starting in integrate activision blizzard games into their shows, all those games will be on game pass soon enough.

@Archaicc: "Its funny that people were dissapointed with the show. I guess I get it, people always have unrealistic expactations for these shows."

Seriously though? We have a next gen console that is the most powerful on the planet with nanites in Unreal Engine, ray tracing, assets up the wazoo in asset stores, object oriented programming to copy & paste games to your hearts content. AI to fill in the gaps and DLSS to upscale and yet we get these colorful kiddie Switch games for it? Now there is nothing wrong with games like Crash, Spyro, Rayman, or Klonoa. But many of these games look bland and just lazy and not taken to the next level...no next gen so far.

@just1mohr: I disagree, those games are different art styles and they look cool. Every artist isnt the same, neither is every game developer.

Just like most generations, games take a while to catch up with and get the most out of the system. Im sure the games coming will look great. Forza looks amazing.

@Archaicc: Forza looked sick, one of the best racing games in terms of graphics, but I don't play racing sims. I LOVE Forza Horizon though as it is more of an arcade game. And so the show leaves me empty.

I was bummed out after the show as there is nothing that I reeeaaaalllyyyy have to play and it feels weird and empty. For the first time ever I am not excited to play these NEW games on XB, & mind you I LOVE my XB. I am more excited about games outside this show.

I saw too many kiddie gamepass filler games that belong on Nintendo Switch. I don't think there is anything here that I can call next gen, other than maybe Starfield and for which I have my reservations for. XB has lost their target audience and it is VERY SAD and I am more convinced now that gamepass is hurting the industry!

    Probably buying (AA):

    Redfall

    Naraka Bladepoint

    _______________________________

    Maybe try (A):

Diablo (looks really good, never played Diablo)

    Wo Long Fallen Dynasty

    Flintlock

    The last case of Benedict

@johnny0779: Bruh, I was accused of being the next Johnny because I love my XB..being honest for my take man...seriously!

I just saw the MW2 remaster and I am more excited for that and I will trade every single game shown here for this one game.

@just1mohr: You compared to "the next Johnny"....i would love to see linked.... but for the obvious reason that statement was just fabricated by you I understand it can't be linked....

The first half of the show was kinda meh (all these FPS shooter borefest incl. Redfall ,a 5/10 for me) but then Diablo 4 shown up,Forza Motorsport looked amazing, finally Persona is coming to Xbox and ofcourse Starfield( optional 3rd person view,yay)...that was crazy( a 9/10 for me).

Can anyone help me out here...is there a continuing story timeline in the Persona series?

I mean, do i need to know what happened in Persona 4 in order to understand Persona 5 Royal (which will launch first)?

    The same with P3 ?P4?P5?

@sladakrobot: Nah you don't need to play them in order. There might be a small reference to a different game in the series, but the stories aren't connected.

    One thing for sure

    Xbox kicked some serious ass!

43 Upcoming Day 1 GamePass titles.

    15 Xbox timed exclusives

It doesn't get any better than Xbox.

@johnny0779: Johnny boy...dude, I am an XB fan too, but a lot of those games are gamepass icon selection slotters. To keep you paying for gamepass and to be glad you did not buy those games and feel like you won...money well wasted on gamepass.

Read my review above man...depressing though.

@just1mohr: I checked your nonsensical comment above and it was so out of wack that I laughed so hard thinking on how someone can lie to themselves this bad.

But then I realized you are just a salty Sony gamer so everything fell into place

last gen I was like... Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, The Last of Us II, Detroit: Become Human, Days Gone....I need these games, this gen, it's all about Xbox and Game Pass.

Starfield is looking like the game that might be the end-all for games, simply amazing!!

Honestly, not trying to come across as an annoying fanboy, but I couldn't even begin to tell you what's coming to PS5 and I have absolutely no interest in finding out.

@twelveoucer: God of War Ragnarok! Thats my most anticipated this year. But I will definitely be dropping some serious money for a pc next year to play all these great Xbox games. They've really stepped up their first party portfolio.

I'm stoked on Starfield. I imagine the 1,000 open worlds will be similar to No Man's Sky, which does give me some heartburn considering how buggy Bethesda games can be. But hopefully they've worked the focal points enough that the main campaign and side missions will be playable. Expecting full on crashes outside of those areas lol.

Very average show. Scorn and Diablo 4 looked cool but that's about it. Starfield was decent. Better than Sony's third party show, but still, not great in my opinion.

    @mooglestar:

My initial thoughts were the same after watching live but I’ve gone back and watched it again in 4K and have given a lot of the games a 3rd and 4th look. And I must say there’s quite a lot of interesting games in there.

Ravenloc I completely skipped over on my first look but going back and seeing it in 4K I’m now interested. Flintock the Siege of Dawn and The Last Case of Benedict Fox I’m looking forward to.

Not as good as last years imo but I think that’s because I was overhyped and expecting more 1st AAA. Should have tempered my expectations when they said these are what we’re getting in the next 12 months. Still a solid 8/10 for me and easily E3 seasons best show.

@gamerbum: Yeah I think I overhyped myself too, mainly with Starfield, but I definitely agree there was a lot of interesting stuff, and when they get their own specific attention and time in the light I think they'll look even better. The shere amount of games they showed was super impressive too. And all day one releases on Gamepass. I have no idea how MS can do that without taking a huge hit financially.

I am actually asking, because I am very confused by this statement,"Not too much was shown off in Ark 2's new cinematic trailer, but as you'd expect for a game that stars Vin Diesel in it, family is everything".

Why would we expect a Vin Diesel game to have a theme of,'family is everything'?

Whelp this was the last chance to see if Capcom would show Dragon's Dogma 2; and it was a no show.

Shame but I hope Itsuno sans team is working on it regardless, it may just need more time to cook.
