Marvel Phase 4: MCU Movies And TV Shows Coming Soon And What We Know About Them

We're well into Phase 4 of Marvel's cinematic universe. Collectively, 14 movies and TV shows have come out--some more high-profile than others. Now that Ms. Marvel and Thor: Love and Thunder have both been released, where does the MCU go next? Don't worry, there is a lot more coming your way that's already been announced.

In the wake of Avengers: Endgame, a lot changed. There were five years where half the life in the universe died. Then, shortly after everything went "back to normal," the multiverse was unleashed. And while the average citizen of Earth doesn't know it exists--outside of Mysterio saying it does in that video where he's killed--superheroes are already having to deal with heroes and villains from other worlds. Outside of the multiverse threat, there's also Valentina Allegra de Fontaine recruiting people (probably the Thunderbolts), and that's going to come into play later.

Looking ahead, Marvel has a lot planned between movies and TV shows. So below, you'll find everything planned for Phase 4 of the MCU, which we'll keep updated as news pops up. We're kicking things off with movies and TV shows that have already been released.

This is one of the most mysterious of the Disney+ shows. WandaVision, obviously, follows Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany). However, Vision is very dead. What's more, Olsen told Variety that the series would be something of a period piece. "There's quite a few other comic books that we’re pulling from and it’s going to be Wanda and the Vision, and I think at the Disney+ launch chat, they showed a photo of us in the '50s," she teased.

How will this story unfold? How is Vision alive? Why are they in the '50s? These are all questions we're going to have to wait to get an answer to.

WandaVision was confirmed to take place after Avengers: Endgame and it will feature Monica Rambeau--the young girl in Captain Marvel--as an adult. According to the cast, this is going to be a very weird show.

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, we do know what some of Marvel's superheroes are up to next and that's TV shows. The new original Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is coming to the Disney+ streaming service and will see Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) teaming with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). While plot details remain a mystery, at the very least we know Sam has Captain America's shield now.

For The Falcon and the Winter Soldier segment at Marvel's panel at 2019's Comic-Con, Anthony Mackie, who plays The Falcon walked onto the stage during the Marvel Studios panel holding Captain America's shield. And while that may not be a huge surprise, considering how Avengers: Endgame ended, something else big happened.

At the end of this segment of the panel, Daniel Brühl appeared in a video message. He played Baron Zemo in Captain America: Civil War. He will be the villain of the series and he told both of the stars, "Gentlemen, I'll be seeing you both very soon."

Ever since The Avengers, fans of the MCU have been waiting and waiting and waiting for a solo Black Widow movie, and it's finally starting to come together, but it has been a bit of a bumpy road with not much to report on.

Back in July 2018, Marvel approached more than 60 female directors to helm the project, and Cate Shortland was tapped to direct. Ned Branson was brought on to write the film.

Black Widow's first trailer arrived in December 2019 in spectacular fashion, bringing with it some potential clues about the movie's plot and first-looks at brand new faces. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie has been pushed back, along with the rest of the upcoming MCU movies.

Yet another release delay happened late in 2020, pushing the movie to spring of 2021. Black Widow will release in theaters and on Disney+ under Premier Access on the same day.

It's technically not part of Phase 4 of the MCU, but M.O.D.O.K. was released during it. Sadly, M.O.D.O.K. was canceled by Hulu after one season.

Arriving during the spring of 2021, M.O.D.O.K., was "an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family." Patton Oswalt wrote, executive produced, and voiced the titular character for the series.

Release date: May 21, 2021

Loki was the catalyst for everything in Phase 4 of the MCU, believe it or not. The show followed Loki who was working with the Time Variance Authority (TVA) in order to hunt down a variant version of Loki. Without getting too deep into spoilers, the series led to the creation--or recreation--of the multiverse.

Season 1 of Loki was a blast and the show will be getting a Season 2--which went into production the summer of 2022.

The Disney+ series is directly impacted by Loki, as the show is about different worlds in the multiverse. Some of the things that happen in here became familiar aspects of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Destin Daniel Cretton directed Shang-Chi, which starred Simu Liu in the lead role. The film follow "Shaun" as he reconnected with his mysterious father who was trying to reach a hidden city in order to reunite with his deceased wife. The film was action-packed and loved by audiences. In total, it brought in $432 million at the worldwide box office. However, it never aired in China, which would have brought in hundreds of millions more.

Release date: September 3, 2021

Director Chloe Zhao took on the Eternals, which followed a group of immortal superhumans that have been on Earth for 35,000 years. The group must come back together after being apart for hundreds of years to face a terrifying threat. The group was originally created by legendary Marvel artist Jack Kirby.

Release date: November 5, 2021.

Diving into the world of Hawkeye--and his Blip-times persona of Ronin--Jeremy Renner reprises his role as the superhero archer, but he's joined by Kate Bishop, who is also a marksman herself. The duo take down various track suit mafia members, and there's one blast from the Netflix past here as well.

Featuring the worst kept secret cameos in cinema history, Spider-Man: No Way Home featured Peter Parker taking on some of Spider-Man's greatest foes from other universes: Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Electro, and The Lizard. Working together with Doctor Strange--and a couple other special guests--Spider-Man does what he can to save the say.

Oscar Isaac starred as Marc Spector AKA Moon Knight in this limited series. Dealing with the god Khonshu, Moon Knight has to take down Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and his cult in this mind-bending series.

Speaking of cameos, Doctor Strange 2 certainly had plenty of them. Strange and multiverse-hopping friend America Chavez take on a horrifying villain that's well-familiar to Marvel audiences. Director Sam Raimi turned the Doctor Strange sequel into a horror movie in the best way possible. And this film ended up being a breath of fresh air for the MCU.

Kamala Khan is better known as Ms. Marvel, an Inhuman superhero who idolizes Captain Marvel. Back in May 2018, Kevin Feige stated that there is a plan for a Ms. Marvel movie, but they wanted to introduce Captain Marvel first.

The TV show took a tiny bit of a detour from the comics, but in a good way. It still follows Muslim-American Khan. She's still a teenager. However, her powers came from a magical item that's a family heirloom.

The show has wrapped up it's first season--and you can see Khan in the upcoming The Marvels movie, but for now, learn more about the season finale post-credit scene.

Taika Waititi returned to direct the fourth Thor movie. Natalie Portman returned to reprise her role as Jane Foster--who turns into Thor here. The film also features Christian Bale as Gorr The God Butcher.

The upcoming Disney+ show is actually a collection of five shorts featuring baby Groot. Yes, Vin Diesel is returning to voice the character.

In May, the first trailer for She-Hulk was released, giving fans a look into the new series. Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) stars as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Jameela Jamil (The Good Place) as Titana, Tim Roth as Abomination, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk. This won't be like previous Hulk movies though. It's going to be a lot more like a courtroom drama--with occasional smashing.

While the Black Panther sequel is coming out later this year, little is known about it. Daniel Kaluuya announced he won't be in the movie. Ryan Coogler is returning to direct, and the movie will also feature Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, and Martin Freeman.

Hit-Monkey might be the strangest entry of the Hulu animated bunch. The character, which was first introduced in an issue of Deadpool, is a "wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin." Office Christmas Party directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck are writing this one.

This project has been canceled.

This one might be the most exciting. The two female superheroes--a cat person and a mutant--are teaming up for the greater good. A brief description reads, "two woke superheroes and best friends who fight for recognition among powered people."

The series was canceled in January 2020.

After being an Easter egg in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Endgame, Howard the Duck is finally getting the spotlight he deserves. Very little is known about this series, other than it will be written and executive produced by Kevin Smith (Clerks).

It's not just Disney+ that's getting new live-action Marvel shows. A new Ghost Rider series is coming to Hulu, which will see Gabriel Luna star as Robbie Reyes, the version of Ghost Rider in this series. Interestingly, Luna previously played the same role on Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, though it remains unclear how closely-tied to that show and the Marvel Cinematic Universe this series will be.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, this project has been canceled and will not proceed.

Taking a shot at Netflix's Defenders with its title, The Offenders will see the various animated characters team for a special outing on Hulu. According to the streaming service, the team-up is forced upon them as they are tasked with saving the world "and certain parts of the universe."

The series was canceled in January 2020.
