Mass Effect: Andromeda: 12 Things You Missed in the New Trailers

The latest batch of Mass Effect: Andromeda trailers revealed a lot of new details concerning the game's story, characters, and setting. While you were busy staring in awe at what you can expect from the game, there was an abundance of details you might've missed in the trailers. Click ahead to check out all of the important details we spotted from both the new Mass Effect: Andromeda trailers.

Mass Effect: Andromeda launches on March 21 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In other news, EA has confirmed that Andromeda, like almost all other EA games, will be available for EA/Origin Access members to play ahead of launch.

The trailer opens with a shot of Habitat 7, one of the many planets that those of the Andromeda initiative are looking into to become their new home. Ryder’s crew, the Pathfinder Team, recognize it as a planet perfect environment for organic life. However, when the crew draws closer, they find some sort of black matter surrounding it.

There's another shot of the Hyperion, one of the many Andromeda Initiative arks holding thousands of remnant humans in cryosleep containers. While its support staff is composed of a variety of other alien races, the Hyperion primarily exists for the transport of human colonists to Andromeda.

It appears the Pathfinder Team's pilot is a Salarian. Not much else is known about the identity of this character, but we're eager to learn more about him and whether or not he can top SSV Normandy's pilot, Joker.

We finally get a glimpse of The Archon, the main villain Mass Effect: Andromeda. Based on his blunt "surrender or die" attitude, he's clearly unhappy that the humans are attempting to colonize the galaxy.

We finally get a glimpse at much of the game's key cast, which includes (from left to right): Peebee, Liam Kosta, Scott (or Sarah) Ryder, Cora Harper, and Drack.

At some point, Ryder and his team encounter the Angara, a sapient species native to the Andromeda galaxy. Not much is known about them, but they at least seem friendly, if not a little cautious about their presence. Also worth noting is the presence of both male and female Angara in the shot we see from the trailer.

Like past entries, Mass Effect: Andromeda allows you to start a romance with a member of your group. It's revealed that it's possible to romance Cora Harper, the Pathfinder Team's biotic specialist.

The dark matter seen consuming Habitat 7 appears to be spreading across other parts of the Andromeda galaxy; Ryder's ship is seen zipping through a cluster of it during the end of the trailer. What is this phenomenon exactly? Is it specifically linked to The Archon, or is it tied to a much larger occurrence gripping the galaxy?

Alec Ryder is the father of main protagonists Scott and Sarah Ryder. He was part of the first task force of humans to cross a mass relay; and he even fought in the First Contact War against the Turians. Currently, he acts as the Pathfinder of the Hyperion Ark.

Liam Kosta is a security and response specialist who was handpicked by Alec Ryder to support the Pathfinder Team. He's considered the "idealist" of the group.

Cora Harper is the second-in-command of the Pathfinder Team, and if warranted, is next in line as the Pathfinder. She's a biotic and once served as a Systems Alliance military officer, and she even spent four years fighting alongside Asari commandos. Her last name is of interesting note, since it's shared with the last name of one of the original trilogy antagonists, the Illusive Man aka Jack Harper. While she shares no ties to Cerberus as far as we know, the possibility could drastically affect the events of Mass Effect: Andromeda if that turns out to be true.

S.A.M. is an artificial intelligence created by Dr. Ellen Ryder, who we presume to be the wife of Alec Ryder. It receives a direct feed of the Pathfinder's sensory input, providing the Pathfinder Team with advanced situational awareness and tactical enhancements. It's interesting to note the presence of S.A.M. given how true artificial intelligence is considered illegal in the Mass Effect universe.
