Nintendo Direct June 2024: All The Biggest Announcements

The Nintendo Direct June 2024 livestream has wrapped up, and in case you missed it, this was a short but packed livestream full of games coming to the Switch console this year and well into 2025. While we didn't get to see any updates for games like Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the Nintendo Direct did have some big surprises. Easily the best of the lot was a new look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, as the attention-grabbing trailer confirmed a 2025 release window.
Other highlights included Mario and Luigi, Brothership, a very cute new entry in The Legend of Zelda series, and the largest Mario Party game yet. On top of that, we were treated to reveals of a Romancing Saga remake, a killer combo of Capcom classics, and much more. Mario and Luigi: Brothership
Kicking off the Nintendo Direct was Mario and Luigi: Brothership. Out on November 7, the game stars everyone's favorite plumbers on a new island-hopping adventure.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition
A new trailer for the game showed off several more modes that players can take on. There'll be over 150 speedrunning challenges, you can attempt to rise to the top of the leaderboards in the game's Survival Mode, and you can put your skills to the ultimate test in Legend Challenges from across 13 NES games.
Fairy Tail 2
Based on Hiro Mashima's popular Fairy Tail manga, Fairy Tail 2 adapts the final arc of the series as Natsu and his friends take on powerful forces in this action-RPG from Koei Tecmo and Gust.
Fantasian Neo Dimension
Ported over from Apple Arcade, Fantasian is on its way to Switch and other platforms soon. With development led by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and composer Nobuo Uematsu, Fantasian Neo Dimension contains English and Japanese voiceovers, an additional difficulty option, and a fun turn-based battle system full of unique gameplay mechanics. Visually, the game looks pretty great as it's set against the backdrop of over 150 handcrafted dioramas.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
The king of Kong is back! First released on the Nintendo Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD includes all the original levels from that game and the extra levels from the Nintendo 3DS version. It'll land on Switch on January 16.

MIO: Memories in Orbit
A 2D action-RPG, MIO: Memories in Orbit will release in 2025 on Nintendo Switch. You'll play as the android MIO, an explorer stuck on a gigantic spaceship drifting in space and populated by machines gone rogue.
Dragon Quest HD-2D Remakes
A trilogy of Dragon Quest games are getting the HD-2D treatment, and you won't have to wait too long to play these classic RPGs. Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD Remake will arrive in 2025, while Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake will be available starting November 14.

Metal Slug Attack Reloaded
Available right now, Metal Slug Attack Reloaded reimagines the classic run-and-gun adventure as a tower-defense game. The detailed 2D pixel art has been retained, but you'll need to come up with new strategies if you hope to survive against the forces assembled against you.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Fighting Collection
Arcade and fighting game fans are in for a treat, as several of Capcom's excellent Marvel games are getting a new release. The new collection includes X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, and The Punisher.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
At long last, your mom is right, because Nintendo just announced a Legend of Zelda game where you get to play as the iconic princess. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches September 26 on Switch, and is a brand-new story set in the kingdom of Hyrule.

New Zelda-Themed Switch Lite
Alongside word of a new Zelda game, Nintendo revealed a new Hyrule Edition Switch Lite. This features a gold design and Triforce imagery, and it'll be available on the same day as Echoes of Wisdom.

Super Mario Party Jamboree
Billed as the biggest Mario Party game yet, Super Mario Party Jamboree will be available starting October 17 for Switch. There'll be more than 110 minigames, a collection of returning and new game boards, and you can join up to 20 players for some online competition in Koopathlon mode.

Get ready for a date on the court in Nintendo Switch Sports, as basketball is being added to the fitness game as part of a free update. Modes include 2v2 local and online matches, three-point challenge, and a five-street battle mode.
