PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium Games For 2025 Announced, Including An Early Game Of The Year Contender

The April lineup of games being added to the PlayStation Game Catalog have been revealed, and while there aren't too many new arrivals, it looks like this month is all about quality over quantity. As usual, PS Plus Extra subscribers get everything except for the new entries in the Classics section of the Game Catalog, while PS Plus Premium subscribers gain access to everything listed here when they're made available starting April 15.

The headliners this month include one of the best games of the year, Blue Prince, and the smash-hit Hogwarts Legacy. There's also another day-one release to look forward to, some sports fun, and a few classics if you're feeling nostalgic for some old-school horror and kaiju action.

As a reminder, all PS Plus subscribers can also claim this month's new games, RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory.

There's a good chance that you've never played a game like Blue Prince, as this new release combines mystery and architecture with roguelike and puzzle elements to create a unique experience. As the heir of Mt. Holly, you're tasked with finding the elusive Room 46 inside of a mansion that is constantly changing, but as you venture further into this stately manor, you'll uncover a story of blackmail and political intrigue. This is a day-one release--and will also be available for PC and Xbox Series X|S through Game Pass--and you can read our Blue Prince review to discover how this could be 2025's sleeper hit.

Shifting from indie to AAA, Hogwarts Legacy made a splash when it was released in 2023. Set many decades before Harry Potter embarked on his adventures in the wizarding world, Hogwarts Legacy will let you roam the iconic magic academy, discover magical beasts, and battle dark wizards. There's plenty of school activities to master as well, including potion-crafting, spell-casting, and more in this open-world action-RPG.

It is worth noting that Hogwarts Legacy has been embroiled in controversy due to transphobic remarks from Harry Potter author JK Rowling. The first chapter--or tape--in Don't Nod's new adventure series Lost Records already had us hooked with its killer combo of teenage angst and '90s aesthetics, and we're looking forward to seeing how Tape 2 continues and concludes the sisterhood’s adventure. The story of childhood friendships, punk rock, and an unexplained event that forever changed the lives of everyone involved will be revealed in full here, as the sisterhood reunites after 27 years to confront the ghosts of their past.

For something less serious--but only slightly--you can look forward to 18 rounds of fun in EA Sports PGA Tour. While sports games are largely iterative due to their annual release schedule, EA Sports PGA Tour does offer some interesting new gameplay mechanics and 30 courses to test your skills out on.

The next Battlefield game is in development, but for now, you can return to one of the classic entries in the series. Battlefield 1 was a departure from other games in the series that featured modern warfare influences, as it focused on World War I with its single-player and multiplayer content.

Looking to experience something even more stressful than trench warfare? Then you can prepare yourself for a kitchen nightmare in PlateUp. A combination of restaurant management and roguelite meal preparation, you'll need to build and run a restaurant from scratch, roping in your friends for some chaotic co-op along the way.

Originally released back in 1993, the first Alone in the Dark sequel saw private eye Edward Carnby investigate a strange kidnapping, with the clues pointing him toward a spooky mansion that has become the home of homicidal--and immortal--pirates who once plundered the seas several centuries ago.

Few things in life are better than seeing giant monsters clobber each other, and you can do just that in War of the Monsters. This game was originally released for the PS2 in 2003, and it features "mutant brutes" that are legally distinct from monsters and giant mecha like King Kong and Mazinger Z.
